Re: Used L'edges or Options?

Umm, Trade up to what?
Trade up to a new one! Don't wait until you crack it. How many stress/flex cycles do you think those plastic hulls will take?

Yeah, I know (((Pipedream))).

Used L'edges or Options?

So, when are some of you L'edge or Option owners gonna start selling? I know there's quite a few folks waiting for used ones, so trade up and spread the love. Support the manufacturers! Grow the sport! :D

Re: Painters

Smurf,
Do you worry at all about the plastic ball acting like a chock and getting caught between rocks while it's deployed? Seems like sort of the same thing as having a knot in the end of your painter, which I've always been told is a no-no.

Gaia Airbags (2) Size L Solo Ends FS $65- SOLD

Got these late last summer from Walden's Ridge and ended up needing the next larger size (due to recent re-outfitting, doh! ). They have been on only about 6 runs and haven't faded at all. Stored out of the boat in original packaging (mesh bags). 54" long. Price includes USPS shipping in a fl...

Re: RepairIng using abS

Try ABS cement available in most hardware stores. It's basically ABS slurry pre-made. Also you can lay it up with S-glass. Go to Wal-Mart in the Automotive department and look for bondo. Somewhere right close to the bondo you will find fiberglass fabric ready to go for about $5. I would apply a good...

Probe 11 reoutfitted

Just finished reoufitting my Probe 11, tearing out the Mohawk lap belt and fitting a bulkhead and building in the pump.I Realized I just am not going to have the cash for a new Option or L'Edge anytime soon, so decided to spruce up my current ride. If you can't be with the one you love, love the one...

Re: Kayak question for C Boaters

It broke my heart when my wife said she preferred the kayak to the canoe, but we found her a Jefe with just one crack which was easily welded (but it was cheap). I thought she would hate that boat as she's only about 120lbs, which is right at the minimum weight range for the boat, but to my surprise...

Re: K1 to OC1 Conversions?

my next boat (if i decide to cut up another yak) will use Gflex I am curious about your comment. Did the plastic welding suck that bad, or do you think the g-flex would just produce superior results? Did you use a "speed welding" tip when you did yours, or do it by hand? I'm thinking of the kind th...

Re: K1 to OC1 Conversions?

Here's a mockup in CAD using the photo of the boat on the LiquidLogic website, and dimensions from the HDPE barrel I picked up last weekend.

Edit: Dimensions shown are decimal inches.

Re: K1 to OC1 Conversions?

Yeah, there's no danger in ruining any value left in the boat. It was a cracked beater when I got it for less than $100 , and I welded the bejeezus out of the hull but it's dry now. I'd already decided to convert it, I'm just toying with whether it would be more fun without having to fool with a ski...

Re: K1 to OC1 Conversions?

Any other thoughts on this? I'm dangerously close to doing something crazy with a blue rain barrel and a jefe hull.

Re: K1 to OC1 Conversions?

What is the build up material and source? Just stock HDPE sheet stock from a plastic supplier? What thickness did you use? 1/4", 5/16"?

K1 to OC1 Conversions?

Out of curiosity, has anyone done a conversion of a K1 hull by cutting the top off and installing gunnels & thwarts instead of the traditional method of just changing up the seating arrangement? I guess it would be a K1 to OC1 conversion. Seems interesting, but likely to be awfully shallow. Any hull...

Re: Installing a pump + canoe sawhorses

Get a piece of vinyl fence post and put the pump inside it, like this - http://www.horizontees.com/Horizon_Graphics/Canoe_Oufitting/Pages/BulkHead_Saddles.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Awesome looking saddles in that link! Fence rail was my original plan, but I ended up wiith ...
