Re: Mad River Cyclone, 15' Kevlar slalom boat, $350, Maine

The boat is still available. Might be willing to bring to a fall NESS race.

Re: airbag lacing

I have a Tuff-weave boat, with drilled lacing holes, sitting in my yard right now. No problems or issues.

I have also drilled lots of other composite hulls for bags.

For others who are not close to Echo...the guys at MT Canoes are making composite extra-slim Ocoees. They build very nice boats.

Re: Need a new PFD

Actually did that with an old mid 80's vintage Prijon racing vest. Was my favorite but after so many years the foam was turning to, something, not foam. Current LIFE JACKET is a Sandiline, I love it, but should have something that actually floats an overweight old man. Gee, you are, like, 95% of th...

Re: Need a new PFD

As I get older If you are, in fact, old and in the way...you might be old enough to remember when: they were called "life jackets," and when quite a few whitewater paddlers made their own. Remember the Walbridge kits? Take your old one apart, use the fabric as a pattern, buy new material, bam...new...

Re: Dagger Cascade = ??

Which is? That question about my squirt boat? Picture the middle 3' of a Max II C-1. Now, picture bow and stern ends so altered as to allow flatwater bow and stern squirts. Now, think how that would look if the project was done by some slightly-drink not-very-well-trained chimp. I built it when I w...

Re: Dagger Cascade = ??

Re the storm chaser, I'm not sure it is faster, but it is FAR more pleasant to paddle and "feels" faster, likely du to being more responsive, and much, much lighter. If you ever get down this way Roy you should check the "collection" out and paddle them back to back and see for yourself:) I still h...

Mad River Cyclone, 15' Kevlar slalom boat, SOLD, Maine

Wow...this boat finally sold. It was not my longest-boat-on-the-market, but it took a good long while. This boat is fully outfitted and ready to paddle after you make some modest repairs. The previous owners were rock bashers...there are quite a number of patches. The patches were mostly done by the...

Re: Dagger Cascade = ??

I wouldn't claim that it is always faster than a slalom boat, but under certain circumstances it can be. It's main advantage is that it stays on top of the waves rather than punching through them. Right...my paraphrase was a bit inexact. But, it still seems, you took a boat everyone thinks as super...

Re: Dagger Cascade = ??

For a higher volume boat the River Elf Storm Chaser is pretty awesome. I'd much rather paddle it than a Cascade. Adam, What do you think is going on with the speed of the Cascade? The Storm Chaser numbers (8'5" x 27.75") would seem to make it slower than a Cascade. Is it just weight/stiffness? The ...

The PE fabric at Sweet's is only 12 bucks a yard, and is woven for composites work:

Re: Dagger Cascade = ??

Getting off my own topic, I'm kind of curious about higher volume Cascades. If you don't mind me asking, what was the problem you were trying to solve, and how did it work out? Thanks I like to feel totally "in" the boat, not "on top of it." I am an old and inflexible (in many ways) guy, and run a ...

Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?

To me, she looks not only worn out, but brittle. If that is the case, forget any high-end repair options. Go cheap. Rather than Gflex and fiberglass, I would buy System 3 epoxy from Merton's Fiberglass and polyester cloth from Sweet Composites. That combination results in a cheap, flexible, hard-to-...

Re: Dagger Cascade = ??

The list of "built-up" open boats is long. Sometimes the wetted surface was tweaked, other times, not so much. As Adam mentions, the Hahn was the base for the HD1, and, I believe, the Flashback. Twister was from a BatMax Fat Boy (aka Defiant) from a CudaMax Sweet had a bolt-on mold extention which m...

Still surly. Still for sale. Still won't ship, but will bring to NESS race. Still won't cut the shaft or carve you a new grip.
