SOLD - Robson Finkenmeister
In very good condition. Little used by me as it's to fast for an old man's reflexes. Includes skirt and a couple flotation bags. I added a lap belt which could easily be removed if you're not into that sort of thing. $400 or best offer. I'll be at ALF and could deliver it to the lucky new owner ther...

Re: C-1 recommendations?
I have had a Finkenmeister for many years and continue to paddle it. I think the cockpit is on the small side and getting your feet in and out of the boat is tight due in part to the big hip braces.

Re: C-1 recommendations?
For plastic, how about a used Robson Finkenmeister (aka Fink)?

... through the Glens Falls NY area and wants to try it out in the Hudson (I'm right on the river) PM me… For creek-boat comparison I also have a Finkenmeister, and a few older designs as well.

Boat of the Week - Drakkar Wheelboy / BigBoy
... are better boats to look at. Some folks have used them for creeking as well... but again, there may be better more purpose built boats to look at (Finkenmeister, Riverelf Storm Chaser to name two recent craft). The BigBoy is a larger composite-only version of the Wheelboy. From what I heard from ...

Re: Conversions and knee spread
... I have a newly outfitted Burn (having just retired a Pyranha H3 255) and the Burn is the best conversion I have paddled to date! I have a Robson Finkenmeister and have been frustrated with this boat (I still frequently paddle it) - it is 29 inches wide but due to the hull geometry you can't get ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister
Wow, we are once again thinking about Der Finkenmeister :) . I have continued to paddle mine. It has been 6 or 7 years now, although for more serious water I had been paddling my Pyranha H3 conversion. Just recently broke the H3 so the Fink is ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister
My bulkhead is not sealed off... not that there is much room to toss a paddle up that way, but throw bag, sandals, and other gear fit fine.
At least until I add more foam:)

See you at Rivers Week, Pat? The Similkameen or Tulameen would be pretty mellow for some decked boating. . .yarnellboat wrote: . . . I wasn't able to get out much. . .
(Far as storage was concerned, I didn't have the boat long enough to solve the issue!)

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister
Rick, if I never-ever got out, how would I keep stock of how quickly & badly my skills are deteriorating? :-? Sadly, I think the North Shore run-off is about done and even with that quick-access ww available I wasn't able to get out much. Unfortunately paddling so infrequently makes trying the C-1s ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister
Finally got out in a C-1 again, it was better for me in the Fink than it was in the Redline, but keep working on the outfitting of both. Obviously my biggest problem with C-1ing is that I only try it once every 18-months - no wonder I'm not getting any more comfortable! Hey, do any of you Fink owner...

Re: Officially converting to C-1
... many of the designs are old school... as noted. But then they are typically cheaper than a used kayak shell, too:) I tend to think of at least the Finkenmeister as a "current" creek design, as well as the brand new boat from River Elf, of course:) The Amoeba really isn't a creek design, but isn't ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Robson Finkenmeister
I've borrowed PAC's Fink twice to paddle the Meadow Run & Cheat Canyon. PFD's on both runs for me. It had great speed for plastic. It feels a little strange at first, but once you realize that you can paddle it like an open boat that doesn't fill up, it's on. We don't have technical runs like those ...
