I thought

they quit putting the extra bend in to save $. The new wood gunnelled ones I've seen didnot have it. It's still a good boat just not as dry.

It depends

If you can afford it a drysuit as above is BEST. A farmer John with a polypro and fleece top under a spray jacket and booties works for a lot less $. It used to be state of the art and a lot of us used them.

Does when playing count?

We used to say swims during play didn't count. If that counts then it makes a huge difference. I still have some but only a small percent of the total.

Yakima also makes a side mount artificial gutter. I preferr them as you don't have leakage issues. They will mount Yakima, Thule and quick and easy's. When my feet are flat on the hull I had the toe blocks(in this case Yakima foot braces) very close to the hull to keep my toes from goimg under them. I kept imagining amputated toes!
