Re: Murky Waters

You already have a Groove. I don't see anything else in his list that I thought you'd be interested in. Is there something that's not listed?

Re: DIY - Bow Foot Brace

I used to paddle bow in a Penobscot. We put a sliding seat in the bow to get the trim right. Then I fitted & glued a couple of chunks of mini-cell foam in the bow for a foot brace. 1st piece in was shaped to the bow as a spacer. I braced off the 2nd piece, which was taller & wider. I think the piece...

The ability to add a photo directly from your computer hasn't always been there. It was added a while back to make it easier for folks to share photos. I think it's location causes folks to miss it.

Is there a way to upload pics directly to here? Look down below where you click "Submit" for your post. Click "Browse" This will allow you to locate the photo on your computer. Once you've found the photo that you want to add, click "Add the file". You'll see the progress bar while it uploads. Clic...

Re: C1 conversion: straps v. bulkhead

The Team ETC thing is a generic set of plans w/ templates. The templates allow you to cut slots in the plastic sheet (sold separately) to thread straps though. The slots are your anchors. Pretty neat idea. I used that set up in a Big EZ & it worked fine. You can set up your anchor points exactly whe...

Re: C1 conversion: straps v. bulkhead

You can make the bulkhead out of foam. If you make it a little larger than it needs to be to 'fit', it'll be a nice, snug fit that requires no hardware. You can twist it out to get to your lunch. Add the bungee to hold your water-bottle in place. I like a bulkhead & lap-belt combo, but not everyone ...

Re: need photo of a glassed-in anchor

Here is a shot of my water jug anchor. I like to see the frayed ends of the rope while I'm working & when I'm done. I sand the hull till it gets fuzzy. Tape the center of the rope w/ masking tape, leaving the ends untapped so I can fray them. Cut a slit in s-glass patches for the ends of the rope to...

Pogies are warmer than gloves. If its too cold for pogies, I recommend boxes. :-)

Re: big hands seek winter paddling warmth?

Pogies. I modified Bob Putnam's design. He designed them to be water tight, which makes it difficult to get the top hand in & out. With my version, the shaft hand is still pretty much water tight. The top is not. My top hand only gets wet when I roll. My 2nd modification allows the top pogie to drai...
