Bob, Bold move going for the backferry above this virtual mess! Jan, I'm assuming you are paddling right, using cross strokes to initiate a carve, and using power strokes on your onside (right), with an onside tilt, and, as shown, crossing the grain "paddling against the arc" to power left. Makes se...

Larry, I don't have any new advice, but I need to process this and clarify a few things for myself... We're talking about heading downstream and crossing the current to the left: paddling on the right in pushy water and making it across over to the left. So, I'll ignore the talk about your strokes a...

If it's cheap go for it! I've had it (the largest size) suggested to me (210lbs) as a good play boat.

Also read this thread and another current one for big guys:

John, Sounds like you 'ghetto jonny' & I are looking for the same entry-level big boats. Most responses I've heard favour the Score and Z for a river-runner-slash-playboat. Others like the large i3 and s8 for more play. And the large h3 or Nomad for creekers. Here's a link to my similar post and its...

"... dynamic ferries, S-turns, fast front surfing, back surfing (if I were any good at back surfing). I can submerge the tail, and when I get better I may be able to do good bow stands. Enders, pirouettes, all this is sort of old-school playing ...." That pretty much describes what I'm after. Surfs ...

Hi Geoff,

Mind sharing the "specs" of the pump you installed?

What type/size of pump, battery and switch are working for you?

Cheers, Pat.

Bill, I assume you meant me, Pat in BC (not CA)... And yes, I'd be thrilled if somebody in this region would cough up a decent hull for a case of beer, but this was way too long a drive!! If you know anything about shipping, maybe you can get it to me for cheap once you've tuned up the patch and got...

Nam, If you need more paddling to cure your ills, I'm meeting a friend tomorrow (Thurs Apr 7) at 1pm on the lower Seymour River at the little park behind Maplewood Farm. Just south of Seymour Parkway, accessed from Riverside Drive/Dollarton. We may just do some "flatwater" at the mouth (at Sea to Sk...
