The Mad River Flashback was my absolute favorite solo boat. I paddled that green boat for seven years before I finally replaced it with with a Dagger Encore. If I were to do it over again, I would have kept the Flashback! Believe it or not, the Flashback is also a great big water boat, as I could ea...

Regarding your D rings. Make sure you get stainless steel ones, not chrome plated as they will rust. Especially if you live near salt water. The rust will abrade your thigh straps. If this is your first Dagger Dimension, you are going to have a lot of fun! We are working on our third Dimension. Happ...

re: John Day photos
Bill,
Thank you so much for posting the link for your photos of the John Day. I really enjoy looking at other peoples pictures of trips I've also done. As we'll look at the world differently, what we take pictures of, also differs.
Carol

Trip report-John Day River
My summer vacation for 2008: The grande plan was to take advantage of an early vacation this year and do the John Day River, then move on over to the Grand Ronde before heading back home. As our departure date approached, it became apparent that the flows on the Grand Ronde , 8000 CFS, and not dropp...

John Day River
Thinks everybody! The link to the projected flows at the Service Creek gauge is great. We were planning a five day four night trip, should we think about putting on upstream at either Twickenham , Priest Hole, Or Burnt Ranch? Marc, I would love to see your pictures. Question regarding the portage. I...

Canoeing John Day River
Asking for advice and information regarding the John Day River. A group consisting of three canoeists, one raft and one drift boat are planning on doing the Clarno to Cottonwood section of the John Day last week of June. Right now, the John Day at the Service Creek gauge is about 10,000 CFS, average...

Hull repair
I'm guessing your concerns regarding vynabond is because it would dissolve the foam layer? My concerns for using Kevlar with glass overlay would be that it would make the hull too rigid. The Dimension is a 16 foot WW OC2, and having a rigid patch in the middle the boat sounds like it would seriously...

Hull Failure?
Has anybody come across this before? This spring, when we brought out our Dagger Dimension to be cleaned up after winter storage, we noticed 2 cracks both about 4 inches long about a foot in front of the stern pedestal seat about in the area where the center airbags end. One crack went lengthwise, t...

MF trip report
Heidi, Thank you so much for your trip report, I really enjoyed reading it. We launched a couple days before you did, but didn't have the smoke issues, although we did have one late afternoon of ash. I'm glad you still had a wonderful trip. It's a beautiful river, and we brought home great memories ...
