OK, some good information to consider. With five straight days in Ohiopyle, I might find some people with theses boats willing to let me give them a spin. But for a IV+ why not the L'Edge? :D Cause I don't think I can trip with it (five days or so), I think it would be bad on flatwater, and cause I ...

I'm 5'11'' and around 200#, hopefully that will be going down after an offseason of strength and conditioning. I had not considered the Viper, now I wonder about that as well. And to answer a previous question, I am looking to challenge myself into becoming a better paddler. After ten minutes in an ...

Detonator or Ocoee?

OK, I have come to a crossroads in my whitewater life and am seeking advice. I have been paddling an old Probe 11 for about two years. I like it, but I need a boat that is going to help me advance into the realm of IV+, maybe even higher. Given these criteria, what would you pick? I need a boat that...

I was in a Yellow Det.
What day were you with Vern and Phil?

Be on the water. That's the most important thing. Look, I like the kayak vs OC as much as the next guy, but at the end of the day, the dark side is still on our side. With the exception of boats and paddles, we have pretty much similar gear, and they drive new products, like PFDs, helmets, knives, e...

I chose the third option. I'm 21, been boating since before I could walk. As a kid, canoeing was always a way to get to amazing places. Whitewater, for me, was originally only a skill to get to even more amazing places. Then it became amazing in its own right. I am constantly trying to challenge mys...

OK, Saturday I will be in Ohiopyle all day, camping out at a campground. Sunday, I have to drive back to New Jersey, so it will be either a very early run or a loop. Additional question: If I go to Ohiopyle without firm plans, what are the chances of meeting some boaters? I saw lots of yakkers two w...

PA LY this weekend? (Aug 14-15)

I'm going to be the only open boater in my group, if my group decides to come with me. Any other open boaters gonna be out there?

I ran the Lower two weeks ago, and it went really well. I just want to get some runs in this weekend before it gets swarmed for falls fest.

HIJACKER!!!

No, now I'm also wondering about the Stohlquist. I saw it on a guy and it looked huge and bulky.

And thanks Mike, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Astral Green Vest

I was just wondering what y'all thought about the Astral Green. I need a new PFD and the Green looks good. Specifically, what do you guys think about: The pullover aspect - Do you find this to be a pro or a con? Can you get it off quickly if you were so compelled? Flotation - Is 15.5 enough for, say...

Ken, Sorry I missed you on Sunday. I had to do an early loop run in order to be back in New Jersey for work. I head from some yaker at Cucumber that a whole "$hit-ton" of canoes were coming, I imagine that was you guys. Good news is that I am planning to be back for Falls Fest and also for five days...

The only canoe rental that I remember is in Port Alberni. Granted, I was only in Port Renfrew and Ucluelet, but I really wanted to boat around on the rivers, lakes, and in the ocean, and my Canuck friends would only rent me kayaks. Hope you find an option, but when I was up there last year, canoes w...
