Re: What is the most fun boat you've ever paddled?
My modified (Mill Creek) Advantage One. A 15foot slalom canoe which also serves admirably well as a tripper, as well as a downriver racer, and makes attains with near wanton abandon. A real joy to paddle, it liberally serves up smiles... and grins... and giggles. Particularly while recycling great b...

Re: OC1 Carrying
A full minicell saddle - balanced on the back of shoulder-neck is perhaps the absolute best ... that I know
Alternate as needed, an never, ever never put your boat down.... can usually get up to 2miles this way.

Re: Can the l'Edge be used as a tripping boat?
Ditto ↑↑↑ Have done a overnighter in a Spanish Fly, so it ought to be rather easy.... .. although it was mostly a whitewater run, and not much flat. Was geared even lighter than a backpacking trip, and spread communal gear with other two boaters (k1) - one stove, one water filter, one first aid kit,...

Re: Saddle placement question
Yes - these two methods will yield a rough approximation; however they do not offer the same amount of precision. I strive to get to that balance point where my lean will affect trim, so that the bow can be lightened or weighted at will. For me the added step seems to pay real dividends, and is some...

Re: Asking about water proof Cameras
I have a Pentax Optio W80 that I got as a discontinued model last year. My thoughts: 1. Tested very waterproof and rugged 2. Battery life is good 3. Very Rugged 4. Nice and Compact The Less Good: 1. The Picture quality is not the best, not bad but not great. Low light performance is its biggest wea...

Re: S-Glass skid plates (?)
As you often suggest this course, would you care to elaborate on your reasoning? ....G-flex is ok, though for a skid plate the 105 is a better match to the impact demands. [/size] I know you have good reasoning and past experience experience experience, however wondering why :D considering the follo...

The old in-the-water test... even if just a muddle puddle.
I've also found it's best to use a video, in lieu of the (very) best intentions of a friend.

Re: Lipo bilge pump batteries
Anyone tired insulating their batteries to extend winter time usage? Like maybe hidden inside their saddle-or-bulkhead, or perhaps in some sort of small micro-cooler, or just maybe some type of large mouth thermos. Just a passing thought, but if cold is a factor it might be cheap help. Would imagine...

Re: Lipo bilge pump batteries
Doesn't a battery charge really depend upon...
... how dry the boater paddles, perhaps the boat he's in, and which run he happens to be on that day? For instance a day of steep creeking, might be considerable drier than one spent climbing up and over big waves.
Not that I'd really know...
