Re: Drysuit layering?

As a open boater only... I find it beneficial to add extra layers on bottom. With the usual abundance of water  over heating in the lower region is not a problem, while not having enough is a real possibility. On a cool 50(f) degree day a couple layers work well; however once it get's c...

Been there my old thirteen foot Edge came in at 19 pounds and a couple ounces fully outfitted, but being cored was not really a steep creeker.

Was not really asking for u(s) to make a sacrifice.... just casting a wish for a different (future) material.

This is a common complaint that I hear from women, older folk, and even less physical men.... and not necessarily from just the dainty.

Does your drysuit have latex ankle seals or integral (dry feet) booties?

Re: Why isn't OCing popular on the west coast? (or is it?)

As the best boating in my area is in the dead of winter, I find exception that a little cold water would case this lack of manliness. :) I've always considered the difference more of a cultural bias, as every time I've boated out west (although never west coast) people are amazed and want to see can...

Re: Is "oil canning" really that important?

There are many factors affecting a boats performance, among these are area of whetted surface, hull drag, laminar flow, wave drag, and frictional resistance, as well as lack of knowledge. A oil canning hull effects many of these, irregardless of their notice or awareness. My worn out Spanish Fly has...

Re: Lake Powell

I got a lot of good info from contacting the BLM, they put me onto a Ranger who paddled a touring kayak on Lake Powell. Unfortunately do not remember his name, although I'll try and see if it's scribbled on a old map.

Re: yup

The open boat roll is slower. The mechanics are similar, though I find I focus on different parts depending on the boat. Outfitting matters more to me in an open boat. . . One reason the OC roll is slower is that the boat scoops water as it comes upright. As the boat rolls from upside down to sidew...
