Re: Millbrookboats Rival

Dear Rival,
How timely!
I have just been considering buying the same boat new from Millbrook. I would buy it in a heart beat, but i live in Maryland.
Any chance you would be coming out East anytime soon?

Sincerely, Walter Haydel

... And there's lots of tandemized MEs around. So -- wondering what other older solo hulls have been converted to tandem. Anyone converted a Genesis? Rival? Ovation? Viper? Outrage? Rampage? Prophet?. . . Reviews? Thanks in anticipation! Rick

Re: Bend whitewater park, anyone have a boat I can borrow?

... down in the shorter superstar i've been able to transfer those moves over to my Dagger Redline that I bought to replace the 4fun. I started in a rival, went to a l'edge, than wavesport score, to a 4fun and now in my superstar, redline and zen. I highly recommend the 2010 4FUN as well, it's really ...

Mohawk Canoes? Or - "Where to get good flotation bags"

I'm hell-bent on resurrecting my Dagger Rival and getting back on the river this year - tired of having excuses for missing ALF. My flotation bags have seen better days and I want to go up a size in the bow anyway. Is Mohawk still around? Their ...

... As it happened there were a load of late entries and it looked like they had a really good weekend of racing, but as it turned out, my closest rival (who is under 12) didn't quite collect enough points to get ahead of me (he is usually faster on the water!) so the season finished with me ranked ...

... on the fly. It's my first river running/creek boat C1 so i don't have much to compare it to as conversions go. Coming from paddling a L'edge, Rival, Taureau, Score C1 and 4FUN C1. Re: Open boat for a bigger paddler

... Mad River ME, Mohawk XL 13, Mohawk XL 14 are all traditional appearing canoes that have been considered good for a larger paddler. The Dagger Rival I would say is not. Small to medium size paddlers seem to like that hull a lot better than larger ones do.

Re: Open boat for a bigger paddler

If he won't go for the Octane 91, Outrage X or Blast outfitted solo, a Veritge, or Viper 12 for more performance, or even an Outrage or Rival maybe. And those older boats like a Genesis work good too - I'd include H2Pro on the list, depending on what oldies you're able to come across. He could ...

Open boat for a bigger paddler

... friendly at my 200 lb (90 kg) but I've got no sense of how it would work for a complete beginner at the higher weight. I can probably borrow a Rival or an Ovation for him to try. He also seemed interested in going (used) boat shopping, I encouraged him to hold off until he had had a chance ...

Re: Go to boat?

... handle up through class 3 quite adequately. If I were having Kaz lay up a boat for similar use, something smaller and lighter, I might choose a Rival, which is more "tubular" and a good cruiser on the flats. If I contemplated tandem use, I might have him lay up a 15' 6" Coho, which has some ...
