Re: Paddle shaft protection (Mitchell)

Larry - I'm heading for the Cache slalom course today, since its not every day there's a course nearby. Have fun on Chamberlain, sounds cool. Wonder how long it'll hold up. Next weekend I'm on the Upper Sac for a couple of days.

You're right, btw - that tape looks ugly!

Re: Paddle shaft protection (Mitchell)

Thanks EZ, good info there. I got me some of that tape, Larry, think I'll go that route for now since a sleeve isn't gonna happen by paddling time tomorrow. BTW, I'll be up your way on Sunday to watch the big bike race, probly be on the third steep W of Caz somewhere, drinkin' beer and watching the ...

Re: Paddle shaft protection (Mitchell)

EZ - re your statement "essential to protect carbon matrices from nicks and wear which can lead to sudden breakage". Sudden breakage doesn't sound good. :o I just picked up an Aquabound Edge with a carbon shaft. Would you suggest getting some kind of protection on it right off the bat? Any other Aqu...

Re: Slalom Coaching?

Shep - if you can't get in with Kent Ford in CO (heard secondhand that he was no longer doing instruction?), you could try the Longs there. Since you have Kernville plans, you might also ask the folks at Sierra South whether the Giddens' are offering any instruction - they used to offer clinics some...

Re: Kern in late July?

Shep - The Kern is a good one, with most any kind of water you could want, even in July. There's some decent II-III near Kernville, including a WW play park. Probably not worth the drive just for that, tho. http://cacreeks.com/kern-nk.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The Democrat r...

Re: WTB Perception OC1 saddle.

I've got one in the barn you can have if you pay shipping (barn's in northern Calif.).
Last time I checked I think it was about 80 bucks to get it back east.
PM me if you want it.

Re: Stuck in an offside carve

"Figure 8 isn't relevant for offside sweep " I dunno, man, when I watch Dickert doing fig 8s in "Drill Time, although it's not actually mentioned in the voice-over, it sure looks like he's doing a bit of an offside sweep to initiate the transition from offside to onside carve (one of many pearls tuc...

Re: Favorite Frankie Hubbard solo WW-Canoe ?

Another Viper vote that really means Rodeo, from another under-informed voter, having paddle Probes, Vipers, Ocoee and Prelude. Interesting to hear the Rodeo is a scaled down Viper - I've been thinking that it feels more Viperish than Probe-like, in spite of Mohawk's web site saying "think of it as ...
