Re: Possible interest building for canoeing?

John, Larry - I'm with you. If I'm counting right, the Payettes is a 1000 mile r/t for us - :o. 'Course the Kern is almost that far, too, or maybe it just feels that way. How about a 1 day South Fork American Gorge armada? A fun, intermediate run, welcoming to all, with other good runs nearby for ex...

"A Mohawk Rodeo in the new material would be sweet"

+1 on that. Whatever happened to that new material, Richard, can you give us an update?
Sorry if that's a hijack

I don't find my Rodeo (~ Probe 10) to be unusually slow to accelerate. Something I've found helpful in that regard is the one stroke acceleration drills shown in the Kent Ford/Bob Foote/Wayne Dickert video "Drill Time". That video is still one of the best instructional values out there.

Do you guys all use breakdowns out of preference, or necessity (i.e. no room for a spare one piece)? The two times I've ever had to deploy my spare paddle, well, let's just say I was glad it was a one piece, and right at hand! It's getting harder to find room for it as my boats get shorter, tho.

thwart smart

The thwart smart is a good solution. Similar to the paddle anchor previously posted.

I think I read somewhere that mold will actually weaken the rope. I know that happens with webbing straps, also synthetic. I figure it's safety gear, why take a chance?

OC outfitting tweaks

I'm paddling a Mohawk Rodeo with the retainer lap belt thingy. How can I tweak the outfitting to help keep my butt down on the saddle when I set up to roll? I think I saw some comments on this very issue not long ago, but I can't seem find them when I search the forum. Also, does anyone have some ph...

Open Boat Fun!

+1 for "Open Boat Fun". Saw that one early on, and it redefined open boating for me. Still watch it now and then to get through the home stretch of a day in the office.

cheap source

This guy's selling bags cheap, like $17/bag. He may still have a size that works for that boat. Give him a shout.
