... onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; We used to use pipe wrap all the time on our wildwater race boats to protect the hull, and it was more durable than you would think. We used PASCO branded tape but I imagine it is all fairly similar. ...

... was an Ultramax, which was quite stable. I'm fine with more rounded hulls, as long as they don't require the balance demanded by my old wildwater C1. It sounds like any of the newer boats should be fine, although I have heard that the One and MM Max require more attention entering upstreams, ...

I have a Clinch River paddle whose profile is more triangular than a rectangle. I notice Norse makes a similar design called a SW Wildwater, http://norsepaddles.com/product.php?id=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's been 11-12 years since I had Bailey Johnson make the ...

Jackson Karma L vs River Elf Storm Chaser M - help me pick
... all the postings here and narrowed to these two. I can't find anyone who has paddled both of them. About me. I'm 46, c-boating since 16, active wildwater racer roughly 96-04, mainly mellow family boating since (class 2-3, like French Broad Section 9), and recently back into more interesting ...

Re: Stern "squirting" in a Cascade C1?
Thanks Ed. Yes, I raced with my brother in a white c2 with blue stripes - I was in the back. Fun times. We each had kid 1 in 2004 and no more racing after that - exercise and casual runs in Tip Tops are the only wildwater since.

... forwards. I have even less time in the Gyromax, but felt the Gyromax handled better than the Cascade with a higher saddle. I had not yet paddled a wildwater c-1 when I paddled the Gyromax, but in retrospect I think that it could be paddled more similarly to a wildwater boat. Did you by chance race ...

Stern "squirting" in a Cascade C1?
I'm 45 and have paddled C1 since I was 15. I've always had a Gyramax as my cruising C1 - still have one. I've paddled a number of wildwater C1s, but not many cruising C1s. I have literally hundreds of days in a Gyramax. I purchased a Cascade recently and have paddled it 4 times. I'm about ...

Re: Wenonah Ultra-Lite Sundowner and Whitewater Racing
Not being sarcastic, but how many rocks are you going to hit, and do you mind occasional patching? We raced our wildwater C2s down numerous rivers where we had some hard hits. We trained for Garmisch (Germany) by paddling Section 4 of the Chattooga down to Camp Creek, and the Tellico ...

... can carry to and from the river, including longer walks like on the Chattooga. She'll beat it up some but I'm familiar with patching boats from my wildwater days. My default boat is the Flashback - primarily I think it will be easier for her to drive the boat forward than the Shacho, and that it ...

Endicott has a bit of a discussion on asymmetric outfitting in "The Danger Zone". It's (very) old school wildwater c-1 focused, but still has some gems. http://www.canoeicf.com/icf/WorldClassCanoeing/Development/Canoeing-Books-Online/The-Danger-Zone--Wildwater-Canoeing.html" ...

... viable. I've spent so many hours paddling that boat over the years that it is so predictable it makes it hard to get into anything else. Being wildwater paddlers it does not feel fast but it is a lot faster than a Atom or Cascade, let alone a Centaur. Most paddlers do tend to really stare at ...

Re: What is the most difficult CBoat you've ever paddled?
I'll go with ACE III as well. I never could stay upright in that boat for very long.
I was just fine in a few other Wildwater boats, but not that one...
I built an extrabat that was over cut for my weight - edges were in the water sitting still... there really in no need for a 13'2" Squirt boat

1. Zastera No- Name wildwater c-1. It had a huge bow, and a hard chine under it. Either the wind would catch it and it would take off like a sail, or I'd overweight a knee and the chine would lock in. Either way I was out of control, ...
