Re: Dry Top and Pants vs. Dry Suit
Did the drytop/bibs thing for a while. It worked ok, but without a releif zipper it was impossible to pee without getting COMPLETELY undressed. Sold the bibs pretty quickly after figuring that out. I picked up a drysuit last year. It can be a little warm on some of those in-between days, but overall...

Re: Old but nice Mad River ME to trade
How about an Old town Guide? It's pretty good for dinking around with a kid in the middle. 2years old, great shape. My 4y.o. likes whitewater, so I've been looking for something like an ME. Boat is in Radford. Can get pics if you would like. http://www.rei.com/product/785546/old-town-guide-147-canoe...

Re: Royalex Adhesives
X2 on the Goop. I always seemed to have better luck with that than the Vynabond. Sand/scuff both surfaces, apply glue to both, let it dry somewhat, heat with a hair dryer and stick together.

[quote="truckeeboater"]does anyone have any idea where I could get one of those cool rasps that the guru uses in the video?[/quote Most any hardware store will have something similar in the paint department. Ask for a molding scraper. You could also probably order one from Rockler or Woodcraft or th...

The downside is it also puts you within range of the swift backhand on those off days ...bambam wrote: Closer proximity also makes it easier to read the bowperson's mind.

Re: What is the most narrow Kayak hull
I converted a Perception Pirouette SS, just quickie temporary outfitting to see how it would work. Wasn't too bad, rolled pretty easy. Saddle was about 5" if I recall. I think that boat was in the 23" range.

Re: DEALS!!!
I'd take the Redline if it could find its way to WV for Gauley season. Not really worth trying to ship it, but certainly gas/beer money for someone making the trip with spare rack space.

Re: Looking for a used Caption or Probe 14
Sounds interesting. How much does it weigh? Any pictures? It's not a sexy, lightweight, Millbrook sort of composite. It looks to be 18oz glass/kevlar hybrid cloth with roving sprayed up inside to build it up. It was meant to be a Prototype/demo boat. I'd guess is weighs about 60#. Seems to do ok as...

Re: Looking for a used Caption or Probe 14
How about the prototype of the Probe 14? It's composite, which may or may not suit your needs. But its set up for tandem with a single long saddle. Boat is in the Blacksburg area, but I can get it up to Harrisonburg or thereabouts pretty easily. $300 with bags, $250 without.

Almost always. If I snort up a bunch of water, I wind up not being able to breathe through my nose for a week.

Re: Looking for gunwales for a dagger Impulse
If you can't find long boards, joining shorter ones with a scarf joint will be plenty strong. That part of the world, there's bound to be a little cabinet shop that could rip a few 3/4 x 3/4 strips for you.
