Re: Maximum weight for CUFLY?
I'm 185lbs and my CU floats me just fine. It's a lot more stable than you might think just by looking at it. I find it tougher to roll than a lot of oc-1's though. Still a lot of fun to paddle and a short plastic boat comes in handy when the river gets boney!

Re: Maximum weight for CUFLY?
I am 210 before I start getting dressed and always use a drysuit. Cufly floats me fine and is a very stable boat side surfing. That being said if you lean foward much crossing an eddy line you may find yourself doing an ender on the eddy line.
I love my Cufly for what it is- a play machine.

Re: Maximum weight for CUFLY?
In the grand scheme of Playboats , regardless of being open, its a large boat. The bigger you are the easier it will be to throw the ends down and make it more playful. At 185 i think it would be playful and still plenty stable (remember i'm using 'stable' relative to playboats, not stable relative ...

Re: Robson CU FLY?
I just recently got a cufly (from Ottawa). I had some fun with it on the Ottawa but it was a challenge to catch a lot of rides, getting used to 4 foot wide boily eddy lines on my offside... But the waves I did catch boy does it surf. ...

Re: C1 Playboating massacre!
... local hole . I need to tweak the outfitting- mainly the back band, it keeps falling down on me and then I am no longer secure. I also just got a cufly and it is amazing fun in our hole. I am 6ft- 210 probably 225 with all my gear on which includes a drysuit. Surfs amazing and so stable most stable ...

Re: Robson CU FLY?
The Spanish Fly is a better all-around play boat. In my (very) limited experience, the CUFly is too slicey at the ends for play in small holes. The bow digs in and fills the boat from the front. The Spanish Fly bow, being pointier, sheds water to the sides more effectively, ...

Re: Would you ever...
I bought the taureau, the cufly, and the ignitor unpaddled. Taureau was a good buy, cufly bad, ignitor is brand new to me, but I'm thinking good. I took a hit on the cufly when I sold it, but that is unlikely with a more general purpose boat like an option.
Good luck!

Re: critique my roll?
I've spent entire afternoons cranking out rolls in a CUFly (wide clumsy boat to roll in the first place) while playing at one spot and never hurt my shoulder once. Maybe I'm some sort of phreak . One thing I might add is getting your torso and ...

Re: 'Edge Hull (Chine) Shape
the edge is similar to those found on the CUFly which is looser but it'll carve just like every Ocoee I've ever had (which were all pulled in) if you use your outside edge. http://vimeo.com/15501310" onclick="window.open(this.href);return ...

Re: While paddling a canoe I prefer to keep my feet...
A year or two ago angled footpegs (as found on the CUFly) were brought up here and someone (?) asked how they could do that to their existing Yakima pegs. I just ran across the doodle... not sure if this will help anyone but I'll toss it out here ...
