Goals for 2011

I want to run the Little River in the Smokies
Master the Ell on the Big South Fork
Get a Plastic Canoe
Become a better paddler
Get my ACA instructor to level 4
And most of all boat more than I did in 2010 (thinking about getting a crazy check and quiting work to boat and play music)

PE canoe wanted

The past month I have managed to damage and repair and damage again 2 royalex canoes on creeks. So I realized after the last repair I needed a PE canoe. I know most PE boats have good homes but if anyone has one they want to let go let me know.

Sir Adam:
I agree, Dynel is a bear to deal with. I use it alot on my boat repairs. I find it works well with gflex but takes patience. Once done I believe its tough and takes the hits well. Oh and it is cheap.

I love my Mitchell and I am looking at a Sawyer like them to. I have AB edge carbon, it has held up, not crazy about the flex in big water and have 3 Warner bandits. Two fiberglass blades and one carbon, the carbon failed the t-grip came loose after running a drop. If you go with a bandit replace th...

resin

I agree, gflex would be the key. I would put some gflex on the area where you want the skid plate then the plate. Then use a small paint rollorover the plate to get the gflex in the material then some little gflex over the plate and use the rollor one more time.

Dry Suit, dry top and pants are fine but if one swims you will get wet. If you use a dry dry top and pants I recommend a wet suit under it all. Before the I got a dry suit I used a wetsuit under a semi-dry top and pants. It will keep you somewhat warm in case of a swim.

I paddle the New Gorge many times during the year and the LG at least once a year, Noli and FB at higer levels. The Nitro is a great all-around boat that does great for low volume and big water. The Detonator does well to a little wetter. I paddle a Prophet it does very well on big water. If you can...

I guess I will add my 2 cents worth. I would like to try a L'edge. It seems like it would go well with the creeks around my place. It may be slow, but on the creeks I need craft that is stable and dry(plastic boats+dry+no bump pump=me happy). On river higher volume I will paddle boats with more glid...
