Usually head to the Ark around that time - but I might stick around for the poudre if there is water - and there is a good chance there will be. How to get a hold of you? No cell service in the canyon.

Bruce, when you say further north - how far north you thinking? Poudre? Not sure what the levels on the Poudre will be, but if we're in the 2-4 ft. range I'd definitely hop on that. Some sections can get pretty stompy for an open canoe at 4ft. Hopefully it will be in the perfect 3.25 ft. level at th...

Thanks for the response Mike.

The foam is on the inside for water displacement to help with rolling - not hippads.

Cadster, The "citizen" rule is written as follows: Non-championship classes A non-championship Citizens Race shall be held at the annual national slalom competition. A Citizen is defined as a person who has never raced in our annual national slalom competition before or has never placed 1st , 2nd or...

question on racing OC nats (citizens race)?

So I was looking over all the slalom rules for OC nats and had a few questions. It looks like, as a non-racer who has never participated before, I am only eligible for the citizens race? Is that the case? Second, I noticed there was a rule that says boats cannot have over 1.5 inches of sidewall foam...

Upper animas as a day trip - or overnighter? Not sure I got the skills , but I definitely want to try the upper A at some point in my paddling career - preferably as an overnight. Would like to do Slaughterhouse around that timeframe if it's at a good OC level. Not really sure what an upper limit wo...

Dooley - a question about your boof in the pic

Hey Dooley, I was wondering if you can comment on the picture you posted. It's been said on here many times that leaning back during a boof is a bad, bad thing. The argument is that leaning back will drive the bow down and cause you to plug more than boof. But looking at the pic you posted, it seems...

I'll just echo what others have said. Give it a little time to get used to the boat. If you're like me, you might fall overboard a few times getting in and out of the boat - but eventually you'll get it down pat.

Agree with you milkman 100%. BTW, I cracked my prelude (pyranha version) version the first year I had it. Probably about 20 riverdays. I was a little surprised, but since I bought the boat used (not a scratch on it though) I didn't make any stink to pyranha. Could have been stored outside in direct ...
