Re: Tandemonium / Tandemnation

Word on the street is US Army Core of Engineers is keeping the Yough at minimum flow in spite of lake water levels being actually high right now. This is apparently to lessen flooding on the Mississippi River. Good news is July and August should be a bit better than normal this year.

Re: open and closed designs...history?

It seems the hard core OC guys are all off sleeping off the weekend in a ditch someplace (you know who you are  ) so I'll make a pitch for why I OC. I came into WW by progression from family camping trips in big tandems (I ran my first class II+/-III tandem in a Wenonah Kingfisher tandem loade...

Re: Standardizing Measurements

I say let 2openboat and Kaz come up with a standard and then we as a community agree to endorse it, no argument. RodeoClown and Craig S may also want to get in on the discussion. Once a standard is set maybe other manufacturers will come on board but at the very least we as a community could compile...

Re: Tandemonium / Tandemnation

Turkey Bash is Aug 3-4 according to Josh the TRPC president. There was some confusion on this piont but it seems definative now that it is the first rather than the secound weekend of August.

Re: Newb airbag question

The valves are replaceable and you can frequently find them in gear shops.

I don't remember the proper name for them but pblanc knows the name I'm certian. Anyway, if you can't find them I know my local shop has a bin of the things for sale, I can send you one.

Hope that helps.

With new Ocoee's being made now the value of an old one is gonna take a real hit. Drop the price to $400 and you'd be golden.

Re: footpeg modifications

I've trimmed them in the boat with a flush cut Japanese saw (small one). Personally I like to angle the cut just a bit to give more clearance at the ends to make it easier to get my feet started under the pegs.

Re: off-side side-surf?

A former cboater turned kayak instructor many of us may know is famous for screaming at students (and anyone else that happens by  ) that surfing is all in the hips. I have seen him climb into a canoe that he can't get into the outfitting, leaving him basically sitting on the seatback, and pro...

Re: Battery to build a Lightweight Bilge Pump Syetem

It might be nice to have waterproof connections but unless you are running in saltwater it is not a big deal. Most home made bilge systems are all or partially wet systems with no attempt to waterproof at all. I have seen many bilge systems where a SLA battery is strapped in, terminals connected, no...

Quote "Question...is there a problem with some battery packs catching fire?If for some reason I don't get this one, what is the process for elimination of going down like a Zeppelin?" The issue with lithium ion battery's is they can get hot enough to catch fire if they are discharged too quickly. The...

Battery to build a Lightweight Bilge Pump Syetem

A common topic of discussion is the question of lightweight batteries to use for a bilge pump. Well, I was trolling the internet and came across this. http://www.batteryspace.com/li-ion18650batterywithwater-proofcoatingrubber148v2200mah3256whchinacellstrail-techfemaleplug.aspx I haven't used one in ...
