Re: Paddle repair question

Yes, it does spark an idea. Buy a new paddle. Support the industry trying to support us. That paddle doesn't look worth saving and there are so many excellent paddles out there from the small businesses that cater to the whitewater canoe community. Read the first post in this thread. I am repairing...

Re: Paddle repair question

Thanks for your response. Yes you are correct, I did not have a firm enough repair on the tip of the paddle the first time. I have some Kevlar I could use to tip it. I was also wondering about nylon or S-glass. And where does one get Dynel? I will try to post some pictures if I can.

Re: So I have this Viper...

This is very inspiring. I would like some advice on making abs goo...I have tried mixing acetone with flakes, chips and small bits of ABS and I have ever gotten was a big black lump! What's the secret to well-mixed goo?

Paddle repair question

I have an old Perception Horizon Line ... the tip of the blade has been worn rounded and is slightly split in the middle. I repaired it once with G-flex and plastic door edging, but the repair broke off along the tip. My new wood paddle has something I think it is called Dynel (sic) on the tip. What...

Re: Adding thigh straps to an Ion, recommendations?

I think you should go with what Kimmie recommended. It is a lot simpler way of accomplishing the same thing, ie., getting rid of the space under the footpegs.

Option rollability, 2013 vs. original model

Hi I posted this question below but did not get a response...Any thoughts from someone who has paddled both boats appreciated: Can you comment on how the 2013 rolls compared to the original? There has been some discussion on here about whether higher ends help or harm ease of rolling. My guess is th...

Re: Adding thigh straps to an Ion, recommendations?

When new people talk about tucking toes under the pegs or reducing the space between the track peg and the hull, I worry that they might not know how striking a rock can cause a significant deflection in the hull to possibly pinch if not even break toes....don't reduce the clearance and get your to...

Re: Adding thigh straps to an Ion, recommendations?

Here are my directions for moving the foot pegs on a Blackfly: 1. Unscrew the four screws at the end of the foot peg trays and remove the trays. 2. There is a plastic plate between the pegs and the saddle. This should be glued to the saddle so you may need to pry it up with a putty knife. 3. Remove ...

Re: 2013 Option thoughts

Hey Wendy Can you comment on how the 2013 rolls compared to the original? There has been some discussion on here about whether higher ends help or harm ease of rolling. My guess is the extra 1.5 inches of bow and stern height would make little difference either way, but I have not tried to roll the ...

Re: Adding thigh straps to an Ion, recommendations?

I just took about 10 minutes to type in detailed instructions for to put your footpegs flush on the bottom of the boat but when I went to post them Cboats said I was not logged in and lost all my notes. If you want details for this surgery just send me a p.m.

Re: Recommend best PFD for 180-pound, 6-foot open boater?

I have a 10-year-old Lotus medium profile PFD that is worn out. I love the way it fits. I also have an old Extrasport Hi-Float that is too much to wear for regular use. I am looking for something: A. With above average flotation. B. Comfortable. C. Has a couple of pockets. I have hip pads in both my...

Re: Recommend best PFD for 180-pound, 6-foot open boater?

Thanks but I was actually looking for recommendations from other open boaters on what they use and like (or what has not worked out).

Recommend best PFD for 180-pound, 6-foot open boater?

I would like something at least 16.5 pounds of floatation. I just need a basic, comfortable, floaty jacket without a lot of bells and whistles.

Thanks!

Re: Carrying gear on a Spanish Fly?

Here is what I have done: take a piece of quarter-inch pvc pipe and shove it through the base of the saddle, about two inches off the bottom of the boat and two inches from the back of the saddle. Push the mini-cell you have cut out of the hole out of the PVC pipe, then thread a pice of 1/4-inch cor...
