Re: Pumps

how fast is a pump? I have never used one so far, and never installed one cause I always thought that if I need it, it's not quick enough to empty the boat. In a regular situation I can eddy in and dump. When I need help is when the boat is full and I have no chance to get to shore, and I've now rea...

Re: Prelude Vs. L'Edge

probably i didn't make myself clear, my fault --> yes, you can paddle actively in a L'edge --> if you wanna float and relax, the L'edge will tolerate that, the Prelude maybe won't tolerate it that easily that's what I wanted to say what I wanted to say as well: the L'edge is more forgiving and for s...

Re: Prelude Vs. L'Edge

I'm in a Prelude since April 2012 and have been in a L'edge for a test run, on a class 4 slalom course. the primary stability of the prelude is not there, but the secondary stability is the best I've ever seen! For me, the Prelude is a very solid, reliable partner in class 4 whitewater and definitel...

Re: Oc-1 or -2 for small-ish teenagers?

I'm one of those esquif "paid liars" though, as an OC1 I could recommend the prelude..I'm 124 lbs, don't have the strength to haul around the big OCs, and like it a lot, one of the most agile and fastest hulls I've been in so far. The Spark is great too - the only reason I don't have it is tha...

Re: CBoats Calendar for 2013?

thanks for the answer - yeah, it's a LOT of work (once I did a calendar myself), and when having two little ones, I'm sure the time flees faster than lightning

Re: Musings on why I still C1

C1ing demands quicker reactions and greater flexibility whereas open canoe requires greater strength OC1 is more physically demanding in terms of strength, right...but qicker reactions? I have experienced quite the opposite. When the boat goes off the line, I find the C1 way easier to recorrect tha...

what do you tell the children?

while many people are amazed and find it cool when they see my OC1 in action, it happens regularly that (canoe slalom) people shake their heads or laugh at me when I show up with my beloved Prelude. While I stay friendly and keep smiling, I have to admit it hurts a little that some people just conda...
