Re: While paddling a canoe I prefer to keep my feet...

Thanks Craig, that's exactly what I was trying to describe.
I really like this foot-peg setup, now that I can't curl my toes to place the ball of my foot on the pegs.

Re: Conditioning for rolling

Aside from on-the-water practice, I do a set of incline sit-ups and then do a set of legs lifts where I hang from a bar and lift my legs over a bench.
It's a great core work-out and gets my abs primed for the numerous rolls I'm inclined to do when paddling :(

Re: While paddling a canoe I prefer to keep my feet...

There was a post on here describing the bolting of an "L" shaped piece of plastic (I used an aluminum strip) to the foot-pegs, and then gluing a triangular piece of foam the inside of the L. This allows for the top of the foot to remain flat on the hull, but gives you something to grip against. I've...

Rock on Tommy.
Someone has to replace Louie for non-sensical humour.

Keel Eazy strips

Kyle,
I hope this product works well. I have a Nitro with really worn chines, and this looks like a great repair option.

kid's Splash vs. Ion

My 8 year old son keeps hounding me to get him an OC1 as opposed to fighting over who gets to paddle my Spanish Fly. Naturally I looked at the kid's Splash, but then got to thinking (which can be a dangerous thing); it looks pretty similar to an Ion. Why not get an Ion, that way I could paddle it as...

which boat

Tommy, having seen pictures and videos of you paddling; my only recommendation is to go plastic. Royalex can't keep up with you! Good luck in deciding as there are some amazing boat designs on the market. Keez P.S. I paddle pretty much the same way as you and was going through a Royalex hull every 2...

T50 times

Hey; I thought I posted a time of ~92 secs. Didn't remember touching a gate.
Thanks again for a great event.

Heather; we must have posted the best time when you were steering!!

dry-suit/slalom

Thanks again Pat, trust me it was my pleasure to attend your well run and fun event.

As for the dry-suit; I'll leave it at home next time I paddle slalom. Was sweating my back-side off with just a polypro layer underneath.

I do agree with your advise to use the dry-suit if play boating.

I'm also planning on being there to poorly represent eastern Canadian boaters.
I'll be part of the "entertainment".

rolling

Lokking at that video, I so suck at rolling.
Though I'm 90% efficient in combat roll situations, the video has this guy doing hand rolls.
I have much to learn Yoda...

rolling

Craig, That's the way I was taught; when you feel yourself flipping, turn the paddle over so the power face is on the airbag, tuck, then use your momentum to get the boat all the way over. I find this does a couple of things: - offers some protection - avoids the boat turtling - puts me and the padd...

L'Edge rolling

Craig/Smurf and all others who can roll well and were kind enough to share videos of their skill; What I noticed on your videos is that when flipping to your off-side, you seem to leave your paddles on your on-sides then sweep the paddle under the boat, first on the power face, then flip the paddle ...

Best "ad" video I've ever seen.
Nice paddling and looks like a great boat.
I think there is a purchase in the future.
