Re: Install toggle switch for pump bulkhead outfitting

... taken to encasing a reed in epoxy and mounting it under the deck, in my Ocoee I used one of these reeds and cable tied it to the thwart with a magnet tied to the bag strap so I could slide it up to the reed to switch it. It worked OK, unfortunately I used a poor quality IP68 connector so I ...

Re: CBoats.net needs your help! Photography...

... picture angles that don't show what they should. But all things considered, the pictures I submitted of my Zealot, my Wide Ride, Andy Bridge's Magnet, and my ratty old Phoenix, were at least a good start. Some of the most interesting boats are those so rare that you'll never get them in front ...

Re: Canoe for the Grand Canyon

... one would need such a light boat in the Canyon, though perhaps a few portages might be in order. I would take a c-1, maybe have Class 5 make me a Magnet.

Re: Cboat Armada May 16, 17 and 18 during 2014 Rendezvous

Jim, You (and anyone else) are welcome to drop by some time here in Queensbury (and check out the Storm Chaser, Magnet, Sith, Amoeba, etc...). Unfortunately I can't make the armada this year (commitment I can't get out of). I was really hoping to make it as my daughter was going ...

Re: Adams new Magnet

... I know the plug (and mold) took quite a bit of sanding and truing up - but Victor gets all the credit for the project - all I did was send him my Magnet once we lined permission up. BobP - come paddle some time! I have a Hornet here as well as a Magnet. They look quite a bit different in person, ...

Re: Adams new Magnet

Adam, if you took the mold from the one I use to have with the forest green deck and cream colored hull with the horribly rebuilt ends (that I did, not Andy), then the boat was built from a mold at Valley Mill and Andy took it with him to Dagger when he went to work there and threw it out back and n...

Re: Adams new Magnet

... a Hornet, only a Cascade. The sort of fishform, flattened lozenge shape of the Cascade (and the Hornet) might be a small advantage over the Magnet, at least in ferrying. If I were updating the Magnet, I would try to add more flatness to the bottom, and contrive to allow the stern to side-cut ...

Great looking boat. I dig the color scheme. Do you have any plans to build an OC-1? Maybe something in kevlar?

Re: Adams new Magnet

Dagger must have had a mold. Andy was clearly ready to make me one if I handed them the money.

I've heard that if you sneak up behind a Magnet in your Magnet, one or the other will abruptly snap around so they face bow to bow. 8)

Re: Adams new Magnet

... after Valley went under I guess. Victor and I each contacted a few of the folks involved and got permission to re-build a mold, using an old Magnet as a plug (fittingly perhaps it turned out it was one of Andy Bridge's old expedition boats). It's been a few years in the works, and I look ...
