Re: kneeling thwarts
... the way we use our Synergy (class 2 and an occasional class 3), outfitting won't matter much. When I bought the first-out-of-the-mold Dagger Zealot c-1 from Adam Clawson, he was using the world's lowest kneeling thwart as a seat. Adam is near as tall as I am, and it was frightening to think ...

Re: Ok, what's the fastest whitewater boat you've paddled?
... Seewun is a pretty fast boat, with its low rocker, elliptical cross section, and swedeform hull. Lousy on a slalom course, though. My Dagger Zealot isn't as fast, but accelerates better, and of course runs gates better. For OC-1, my Millbrook Big Boy and Mad River Synergy seem to fast-cruise ...

The first-out-of-the-mold, high rocker Dagger Zealot I bought from Adam Clawson.

... Scott B. and I love the daylights out of that boat. If you liked that boat then, you'll like it the same now. I personally prefer it now over the Zealot. John Kaz (somebody) has Millbrook and could probably make you one. Paul Schreiner definitely can. Glad you're still around. Neal Fleenor

Re: Checking in after long absence...
... as the slightly modified Super Dynamic, was the competing boat design from Davey Hearn the same year that Jon Lugill and Adam Clawson designed the Zealot. It's my understanding that the designs are similar and became more so when, shortly after the first few boats came out of the mold, each design ...

Re: Checking in after long absence...
... PS Composites has many slalom molds, though they are not listed on his site. I'm pretty sure a Fanatic and F2 are among them. Not sure on the Zealot. You may also want to consider a Viper (based on a Cudamax). I do know who has a Stealth mold (and a SuperGlide mold sits not far from you at ...

Checking in after long absence...
... hard to avoid injuries (I know if I go out on the river and just paddle like I used to I'll hurt myself, LOL). I still have the same slalom C-1 (a Zealot) I've had for years...and it's still in pretty good shape. But I'm contemplating buying a new boat---which is where I could use some info from ...

... they came, and he whistled and shouted and called them by name Now Slasher! Now Maven! Now, Outrage and Dancer! On, Cascade! On, Viper! On, Zealot and Zephyr! To the top of the course! To the top of the falls! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all! As a boater a boofing a waterfall flies, ...

Re: Does mini-cell foam shrink??
... cold weather. I have not seen evidence that there is bubble linkage and permanent shrinkage. For example, I made a removable pedestal for a Dagger Zealot in '96, and it fits just as tight now as it did then.

... at all. But I've had trouble with some c-1s (Millbrook Wide Ride, Phoenix Seewun) where the cocpit puts my weight forward onto a narrow nose. My Zealot didn't do this. maybe because it is the only high rocker Zealot in existence. It fascinates me that there are so many different sources of advice ...

... don't overdo it. I would fix only the areas that are soft, not an entire zone on the foam core deck. I have the 1st-out-of-the-mold, high rocker Zealot, probably the only one surviving. Don't paddle it much anymore because of my knees. But it's an excellent boat for improving skill on easier ...

Zealot repairs
Been restoring an old Zealot. crease in the bow cracked through and lots of soft spot on the hull. Nothing a good dose of epoxy and some carbon fiber and glass cant take of. http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc390/cboater/Boat%20projects%20and%20repairs/IMG00459-20110619-1336.jpg ...

... the bad placement of the Phoenix cockpit caused me to use stern correction and crutch along on a low brace for years. It wasn't until I got the Zealot that I realized what a dufus the Phoenix had made of me. I'm studying how to move the Millbrook cockpit back a bit. Part of the problem is I'm ...

... The smallest cockpits I ever saw were on some Noah c-1s. The cockpit on my old Phoenix Seewun is small and takes some slalom skirts. My Dagger Zealot has a somewhat bigger cockpit. I have a Millbrook Wide Ride with one of those weird semi-triangular cockpits, but an Atom skirt would still be ...
