Re: Best foot forward?
Endicott has a bit of a discussion on asymmetric outfitting in "The Danger Zone". It's (very) old school wildwater c-1 focused, but still has some gems. http://www.canoeicf.com/icf/WorldClassCanoeing/Development/Canoeing-Books-Online/The-Danger-Zone--Wildwater-Canoeing.html" onclick="window.open(thi...

Re: What is the most difficult CBoat you've ever paddled?
1. Zastera No- Name wildwater c-1. It had a huge bow, and a hard chine under it. Either the wind would catch it and it would take off like a sail, or I'd overweight a knee and the chine would lock in. Either way I was out of control, and on the verge of upside down. 2. Massive Groove. I actually had...

Re: My Alma Mater is looking for a Wildwater C-1
I have one in good shape I would be willing to part with, but its in the Reno/Tahoe area with no easy transport options. I'd love to see it go to a school program and develop the next generation. e_d_g_1 [at] sbcglobal.net.

MTB v C-1
I'm sure there is some cross pollenization between the two activities for many on the board. Fun video link of a c-1 v MTB race down the Treweryn in Wales. (I don't think the "race" was all that serious.) http://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/member/The-Adventure-Series-Bike-vs-Canoe,23961/jasonvelocity,91...

Re: attainment?
"Attaining" is paddling upstream, including back up through rapids. It's a fantastic way to work on subtle things, like boat angle, lean, and water reading, in addition to obvious things, like power. I think controlling lean and angel is often more important than brute force in getting up. My prefer...

Re: Spray Skirt
I've found that any slalom c-1 skirt will fit a ww c-1. For ww specific, try Galasport USA (c-1 slalom should work as well) or Zastera. Tomas is easy to work with and ships to the USA regularly. I've also used a Levelsix slalom skirt and it fits just fine.

Re: shoulder injury?
For me, the mechanics that cause rolling injuries are using the blade as a "handle" to pull oneself upright. Ideally, the roll is about the hipsnap, and most of the setup should involve getting the blade to the surface and out of the way, not using it as something to push or pull on. From teaching k...

Re: Curved blade versus flat blade
Oddly, I've used high end composite curved blades for years, and recently switched to a borrowed all wood, straight Mitchell, due to some lingering shoulder issues. I can't really tell any real difference in effectiveness rolling, bracing, or in compound strokes, and while there may be some slight l...

Sweet. The original Massive/Groove video with P. Danks was one of the most inspirational I have seen - right up there with J. Lugbill/'89 Savage worlds. (And that comes from someone with serious stick chasing tendencies). ...edg

Re: FS: G-Power wildwater paddle
Without having used this particular paddle, I will say that in my experience the wildwater blade shape makes a perfectly good slalom paddle for a lighter or physically weaker paddler (small women, kids) and also makes a pretty good play paddle, especially for a pure rodeo boat. And for rodeo, short ...

Re: SUP! (Stand Up Paddleboarding)
On a flat lake, so easy, even a caveman could do it. That's why I called it the roller blade-ing of the ocean. I suspect its also a demographic issue. If whitewater is 4 guys in a 1996 Subaru with 7 boats on top, a loaf of white bread, a jar peanut butter and a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon, SUP seems t...
