Re: Cold hands

Bob's pogies are awesome! I've been using a slightly modified version for years.

Re: WTB: Drakker Wheelboy

Nah, at 200lbs.it's a good boat. Surfs well, very stable and faster than I expected. Not edgy at all. It's a much better design than my Big EZ c-1.

Re: Your Favorite Road Trip Vehicle

If you don't need ground clearance, mini-vans are great paddling/tripping vehicles. The roof rack is at a reasonable height too. My current favorite is my new to me GMC 2500 4x4 with a diesel engine. I have a camper shell, which gives locked storage & you could sleep back there. I have the extra-cab...

Re: Removing skin from minicell

I've used an electric carving knife. It's not a fun job. Now I buy foam without the skin.

Re: Air bag Inflator

Pretty much anything that will inflate a tire will be less than ideal for air-bags. It's been several years since I used air-bags, but I seem to recall that my 4 D cell Coleman did a decent job. It's designed to inflate an air mattress. Belows type foot pumps were ok too.

Re: Help...Racks too short

I put quick-n-easy brackets with a 2x4 on the camper shell and yakima racks on the cab. The one on the cab makes some wind noise when empty, but only takes a minute to remove. Get the long bars and gunnel brackets.

Re: Two Zealot C1s (slalom) for Sale

I'm curious about the cockpit mod on the white one. Is it noticeably more comfortable? Does it stay as dry?

Re: Center Rail Idea

If you're doing a bulkhead you don't need thigh straps. If you're not doing thigh straps you don't need a center rail. I use a bulkhead and a lap belt in my play boats. Depending on how tight you want to be, you can get away with just a bulkhead and no straps at all. If you go strapless, you'll want...

Hanging C-1 question

I have a couple of 'glass C-1's that I want to store hanging from the ceiling in my garage. I already have my flatwater canoe hanging, so I have the pulleys & cleat figured out already. I'm wondering what y'all think is the best way to attach the boat. I have a roll of seatbelt material & was thinki...

Re: C-1 Roll Help!!!

Square your shoulders to the bottom of the pool and get your grip hand deep before you start. This will give you a longer stroke. Put more force into it too. Your close and I think this will get you up.

Re: Kokatat custom fitting?

I had one custom cut several years ago. The shop I ordered through measured me. I don't know how the measurements compared to the standard. I'm under height for my weight (short & fat). The suit fit well and have me many years of good service.

Re: Conversion ?? for a Jackson Fun.

Start w/ a piece of cardboard to make a template for your bulkhead. The main goals are to keep your knees spread & down. If you cut too much, just tape some more cardboard on. I like a force-fit bulkhead. This allows me to pull it out to access lunch. Make it a little too big, so when you shove it i...
