Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?

To me, she looks not only worn out, but brittle. If that is the case, forget any high-end repair options. Go cheap. Rather than Gflex and fiberglass, I would buy System 3 epoxy from Merton's Fiberglass and polyester cloth from Sweet Composites. That combination results in a cheap, flexible, hard-to-...

$25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?

Hi, I was hoping to get yall's opinion on this. I recently bought a 16' Buffalo canoe for twenty-five dollars. I don't own another canoe and don't have enough money to buy one that I would want so I thought what the heck. ;) I really love the classic Blue Hole OCA look so I thought it would be aweso...

... complete saturation. I've tried this and it was very frustrating. Unless you have an assistant to help you carefully roll the cloth onto your project, you will end up with a rats nest of soggy, wrinkled, useless cloth. Instead, I laid the cloth on my dry work surface and used plastic body ...

Re: Homemade OC1

... my first OC1 out of Kevlar for around $600. Sadly, I made a few errors that caused it to be flimsy with odd stability. It was a costly learning project. I saw the picture below and thought "why not?" Many people are leery of foam core boats because of repair concerns. However, the hull on this ...

Re: Fiberglass Mold Making

I am the proud owner of a Howler and paddling this boat is what spurred me to consider a composite project in the first place. Definitely not trying to infringe on anyone's design rights and this was not an issue that occurred to me when I first hatched this scheme. An honest ...

Re: DIY Break down paddle

rainfoot,

Pakboats sells a break-down (2 piece) Mohawk. You might be able to have a look at one to see how it was done.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted!

ISO: Viper 12 Project -- Good Hull

Hi all--

Looking for a big brother/sister to an Ocoee. Hoping someone has a Viper 12 with a hull that's in good/great shape that they're ready to unload. Located in the Baltimore/DC area--happy to drive.

I chopped and welded a Slasher - the shape was more conducive to the project (flatter j, similar generation of material, welded fine.

The Gyra-pigs tubular form could be tough to work with...

... No, there aren't many canoeists here, but the BOATERS are super nice. We're all family. Perhaps you just have a chip on your shoulder. If you project an attitude, good or bad, it comes back at you. Pea pod- Cache Creek actually isn't bad, but as others have said most of the good rivers are ...
