Well, recently acquired fatherhood precludes me from racing the "Massacre-ence" this year, and I'm gonna miss it. I really like my Maverick slalom boat for that race--it really helps on that LOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG distance and on all that flatwater. Alden, don't worry about who to follow. By ...

Maverick +

Good older design for the bigger paddler. Bright-"can't miss it" shows-up-great-in-pictures-yellow. Not the picture of perfection, leaks some. However, there are no breaks and it is pretty solid. Larger than standard slalom cockpit. Pictures of this actual boat are featured here : http://cboats.net/...

Good question!

A little bit of both. My original intent was to just cut down the Maverick (you'll see that in the pictures on the Maven page). I quickly discarded the deck, then cut the hull down, then in half. At that point I would still consider it just cutting down someone ...

Is that the Maven?

Cascade replacement

... 70cm full width slalom boats (without wings), which means good primary stability, particularly for a heavier paddler. I'm not familiar with the Maverick, but as it was designed after the Batmax, it probably, like the Batmax and most subsequent slalom boats has a narrower hull with wings (in ...

... wildwater c-1's to balance and turn. Hmmm, I'll just take his word for it. KNeal (still stoked from the race) Addendum: the boat I paddled is a Maverick I got from Billy Hearn several years ago and it has a kneeling thwart. I also used a Mitchell premier paddle (carbon shaft/wood blade). The ...

shortening a slalom boat

OK, say I want to chop off the pointy ends of my old school slalom boat (Maverick), not so much to take advantage of the new rules but to make it less fragile and as a way to add the grab loops that were never there. Any suggestions? As evidenced by my previous ...

I haven't paddled any of the cut-down boats either. Maybe someone else on here has experience . . . I hear a certain maverick boat designer from T-Ville is launching a new c-1 from his basement boat shop this season. It will be called "The Supra-Spinatus" and will only do lefty moves. ...

Adding grab loops to a glass boat?

I picked up a Maverick+ pretty cheap last fall and hope to race it soon. I have a suspicion that grab loops are not just a good idea but also a race requirement - unfortunately this boat doesn't have them and never did. Any suggestions ...
