Re: C1 & C2 Boating

I'm with you on the speed. I don't think I'd want it for big stuff. I tend to pick up the speed when I get scared. Lol. The storm chaser is faster than my Sith, but no match for my vipers or 4 meter vajda nova. Other than the inability to pivot, I think ...

... 10-ton crane required to pick up one of those boats. They put in somewhere way upstream...like, Glenwood Springs, CO. So, they did manage some big front-country portages. I have to think there have been others. I mean, dudes swam the whole thing, at least once! Roy

Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons

I think the Magnet would hold weight equal to or better than a Gyramax. It is a pretty big boat for glass.

Re: Silverbirch Agent 8.8 Vs Covert 9.3

... The Agent will feel like a whole new boat and can pretty much guarantee you'd love it. It can be tough to make a well informed decision on such a big purchase when there are not always demo opportunities all over the place, but I've sent out hundreds of Silverbirch boats throughout North America, ...

... tucked under one of the air-bag lines. Works fine and have to guess that there are lots of similar options. Since a roll attempt, swim, or even big curling waves put river water in my nose/ eyes/ ears/ mouth, I've not been at all worried about river water on the tube's bite valve. You might ...

Long Boating

... Branch of the Potomac through Petersburg WV. on an annual camping trip and discovered that this boat with a 100#'s of gear and paddler handled big wave trains really well when the paddler was a few feet behind centerline of the boat. The Dead is a 15 mile run with long rapids punctuated with ...

Esquif Zephyr XL

Any feedback on the XL version of the zephyr? I’ve not paddled either the original or the new big boy version but it does look interesting. I paddle a Viper 12 but it has some “issues” & I’m looking for a good III & IV river runner. I’ve grown to like the edges on the ...

Re: Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?

Klaus,
If your friend is comfortable in the Defiant, the Big Boy would be even more comfortable with a lot more volume and boat width.

Re: Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?

Hallo Kaz
we had to drive a realy long distance to test and there is no realy white water. How similar is the Big boy to the Defiant ? I think we can test one on a local slalom course nearby. If Thomas would be comfortabel in the Defiant, would the Big Boy be ok for him ?

Re: Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?

Hello,
I only built 3 Big Boys and then discontinued the model.
The designer, Bob Connolly, weighs approx 240 lbs and paddles his Big Boy solo. 297 lbs? Maybe. There is only one way to find out.

Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?

Hello Maybe someone can help me here, we are looking for an composite OC for a really big and heavy friend (2.00 m and 135 kg). Now here is a big boy of millbrook offered, but as OC2. Would he also work as OC1 or is he too big? I do not really find much information ...

... similar to the Kruger Sea Wind - it is the Gen 2 hull, and more like the Sea Wind hull than the Gen 1 Sawyer Loon. Fast, forgiving, carrries a big load, integrated portaging yoke, rudder for windy stretches. I’ve paddled mine in the ocean with surf launches and down 2-3 whitewater, but mainly ...

... learning some freestyle moves. Did I say I liked not emptying my boat? I started to do some wetter runs locally and decided I was going to get a 'big' C1 so I bought another pre-converted boat, a bliss stick mystic. Then, ran it for a couple years on creek style runs and few bigger rivers. But ...

Re: Good K hulls for C-1 conversion

The popular hulls I've seen most lately are: Flying Squirrel for hucking/big water(and others from this series volume pending) Pyranha 9R & 9RII for all round and more playful river running - given availability/reasonable price this would be my next choice. ...
