Re: OTC OC2

... avoid back pressure from a right angle fitting. Nice clean job on the install, I like how you put the battery on the front pedestal. Makes perfect sense for this setup. Regarding the hazard tape, it is good to see it is there, and all is well with the universe. :-)

Re: Width and Stability (good article)

... false; At the bottom of this page is a blurb from Steve Killing describing how the numerical values are generated, and offering some touchy/feely sense of how certain ranges of values feel. The critical, non-trivial thing here is the metacentric height calculation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metacentric_height" ...

C1 Roll

... is not the proper technique as I am not rotating the blade after the sweep to initiate the low brace as the primary roll stroke, if that makes any sense. My question is this: should I learn the full, traditional C1 roll, i.e. the blade rotation to switch to low brace, or should I stick with what ...

Thwarted?

Common sense had escaped me again so I put in centre thwarts in several short boats over time but... I put them over top of the pedestal seat, having notched it out. I thought I was stiffening the seat to improve my roll. Dumb ...

Thanks. That all makes good sense.

I'm smiling at your comment that Baby Falls is not a long drop. I wish I felt that way.

... be suitable, and I'm not particularly drawn to any of them. Because I'm paddling at Penrith Whitewater so often, a used slalom boat would make sense because of their ready availability, and learning to paddle one of these would refine my skills for river running in open boats. Thanks for the ...

Re: Trailer advice

... go as high as you want. You can make them wide enough to carry two canoes on their sides on either side of the trailer per level. (does that make sense?) If it does, then a '4-high' trailer can easily hold sixteen solo canoes...if you want to go that far. They are also very light, I had no issue ...

Re: Boat Storage

I used to store all my boats in the upper floor of a barn. It was perfect… until someone broke in and used one (the Slasher) to sled things out and down to their car (winter time, 1+ miles from nearest plowed road). Oddly they didn't take the slasher (so at least they had SOME sense;) )

Re: Off side roll.

... it works very well because the sternman's normal rolling power function sort of winds up, finishing with a strong brace, while the bow waits to sense the sternman's start and the faster starting bow roll then puts maximum power in synch with the stern roll. Alas, however, it finishes "weak", ...

No sense wearing a wet suit under a dry suit, although some folks like to wear lightweight neoprene garments or Hydroskin for insulation. I prefer Capilene ...

... extrusion lines to make it. Other than the canoe industry there is only one other company that buys some and it is a very small amount. It made sense to make it in the 80's when the US gov was buying large quinities of it to for insulation in subs.

That makes a lot of sense. My thigh straps just happened to end up diagonal. But I will keep that in mind for the knee straps as well.
