Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
... these advices again. Now does anyone have comments on the Prodigy? Looks like it would be a great solo tripping boat. Other choices are Viper 11, Nitro, Probe 11 and Spark. I find the Nitro too slow. I have a Probe 12 II and find it too large; I suppose that it would be same for the Probe 11. ...

Re: An Honest Salesman
Classic. I haven't paddled in a while but I started in a Nitro and it took me a bit longer (as a large paddler) to feel confident. I think ultimately it was good for my skills but it did take a while and I do know all the good swim lines on the local runs around here.

Re: An Honest Salesman
... you and can instantly adjust. I feel this in the Prelude more than any other canoe I've paddled (Ovation, Outrage, L'edge, Phantom, Ocoee, Nitro, Detonator, Zoom, Solito, Maxim). That might just be a personal preference for the Prelude's kind of hull though--I'm sure others would disagree ...

Outrage wanted
Looking for a used Outrage preferably with wood trim. Hopefully somewhere in the northeast...
Until then I will keep repairing my Nitro but the hull has a void between the layers and need some advice on re-laminating them.

Re: near death Mad River Outrage
I have a beat up Esquif Nitro I would like to keep paddling (because I can't find a used Outrage) but the royalex has delaminated on the bottom of the hull. I injected some G-flex in an area where the outer layer had cracked and it bonded ...

Re: 1st Run in my Bell Outraged OC-1
... I had it out for it's maiden run down a very nice II+ III run at high water yesterday and only needed to bail once while the other OC-1 boats (Nitro and Ocoee, although they were tending to hit holes a lot more than me) were bailing every rapid. I know at some point, I'll probably poke a hole ...

... paddling, connecting with old friends, and enjoying an unstructured week. She is also trying to find a boat she likes more than what we've got (Nitro and Ion). She's on the smaller side, so the boat can't be too big, and she wants something a little faster than the Ion. We were thinking maybe ...

Re: Detonator compared to Viper 11?
... not slalom-ish oriented, whatever it might be - straight down, big wet lines, drop-n-pool, no pun intended here nor judgement, then a Detonator (Nitro?), L'Edge, Option are options. But anyhow, the harder whitewater you paddle, the more skills you have to put together. So you'll probably end ...

Re: Nitro Repair, opinions please
... you are easy on canoes anything you do to the chine to prevent wide open tearing of the crack will be enough to get a good solid year out of your Nitro (even for a bit of an abuser).... a little glass and or just gorilla tape will go a long way. The abs is UV sensitive so cover that abs up with ...

Re: Nitro Repair, opinions please
You will get a stronger patch if you resin all layers at the same time. If you have to let each layer harden so you can feather the edge, then you have to remove amine blush, sand a bit, and finally you're expecting resin to bond to a "cold" resin surface. If you're dealing with a "divot" so deep th...

Re: Nitro Repair, opinions please
There are other experienced boat builders who suggest doing the same. Technical manuals on composite repair from Placid Boatworks and Bell have the smallest going on first and I have seen videos on composite repair on youtube and elsewhere that suggest the same. I have done it both ways and found no...

Re: Nitro Repair, opinions please
So I just ordered the goods from Sweetcomposits and the person I spoke with told me to start with the smallest patch on the inside and work my way out getting bigger each time. This is opposite of what yall are saying....yeah? While they seemed very knowledgeable about the materials, they didn't see...
