... the USA The Extasy is rotomoulded PE with integrated gunwales, rotomoulded in Germany! Since I am not only the designer, but overall engineer and "project manager", it was easier to have a manufacturer in Germany where I am currently located. This allowed for a closer collaboration on how things ...

Re: Source for wood t-grips
I think I am going to give making my own a try. Except for the bit, which I think I can borrow, looks like a not too expensive project.
Thanks,
Dirk

... I was what I got), and an Forstner bit the same size as the shaft dowel to drill the "socket". the bit will be the most expensive part of the project - borrow one if you won't do this often. Strip and refinish Royalite?
... but it seems that this would add a bit of weight and might affect trim. Also, I work slow, and this would probably add a LOT of time to the project.

Re: BC Whitewater
. . .Would Vancouver Island do it (much cheaper real estate there). . . Well, RK, as a retirement project, I moved to the Island, after 45 years in the BC Interior. Now I paddle 70+ days a year. Within 30 minutes' drive from where I live (between Victoria and Nanaimo,) ...

Now, think how that would look if the project was done by some slightly-drink not-very-well-trained chimp. I built it when I was living close to a Class I river...but, was 500 miles from ...

Flower pot. Repair materials will kill your budget for a real boat that floats.

The PE fabric at Sweet's is only 12 bucks a yard, and is woven for composites work:

Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?
Anything can be fixed. The real question is it worth it. So you are $25 in already, you have some room to play. Myself I would scrap it and find a beat boat for a couple of hundred and call it good. But enough G-flex and proper planing it can be done.

Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?
I'm planning on running mild whitwater. Class 1-2 and a couple 2+ rapids in there. I am starting to lean towards a cheaper more temporary repair. If I put $100 into it and a lot of hours and I get a year out of it I would feel satisfied. I'm starting to think 18 Oz gorrila glue- $18.48 1 1/2 Qt syst...

Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?
Another approach might be Gorilla Glue as a filler and ABS sheet + ABS cement as the repair. Getting ABS to take compound curves with heat and/or solvent is not something I've gotten good at, though others have. I've had good luck with making skid plates with gFlex and dynel (thanks Peter Blanc) - p...

I'd be tempted to try something simple and cheap, like 20mm pipe wrap tape, such as http://www.homedepot.com/p/2-in-x-50-ft-20-Mil-Pipe-Wrap-Tape-53550/100179778" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; We used to use pipe wrap all the time on our wildwater ...

Re: $25 Buffalo Canoe Project. Can I fix it?
Thanks for your advice.
I will definitely look into that.
Thats what I was thinking.
After this I will know a little bit about boat repairs.
