Re: Esquif Zephyr for Big Guy?
...Dagger Genesis at the moment... A Zephyr just popped up ... a 250-260lb paddler..." The Zephyr is a couple of feet shorter than your Genesis, with sharper chines, and your mass will be putting those edges deep in the water, to be acted upon by cross currents and rocks. Don't confuse me with an e...

Re: Attaching saddles to thwarts
If you can't find a pre made solution, you could take a short piece of metal tubing and put in a star nut to give you the internal threads you need. Just Google "star nut" and you will find them. McMaster Carr sells them as "tube connecting nuts". They're very easy to use, and very strong.

If you don't like the shape of the blade, either cut wood away or glue wood on and shape it. Epoxy a dynel cord ...

Re: A bad break
The breakage rate as measured by returns to the manufacturers may indeed be low. The number of unreported breaks welded by the owner of the boat, his buddy, or the guy in town who offers that service, is a much higher number. Looking at the disparity between the materials properties of polyethylene ...

Re: A bad break
I think there are a lot of disgruntled Ledge owners out there who would disagree that PE hulls have a low fracture rate.
