Hello:
I was wondering if any Oregon boaters might be able to please tell me or guess the likelihood that the North Umpqua River is going to be boatable during the week beginning June 29? By boatable, I mean can I scrape down in a whitewater canoe?
Thanks

Re: C-1 Creek Boats, time for a new one, what to get?
This is my 2nd year using the med karma as a c1. Have gone back and forth with how I feel about it. Was coming from using a Spanish Fly. I think I just needed to get used to a boat with less edges. It has great initial and secondary stability in my opinion. Great speed compared to my SF. Makes the ...

Re: Source for skirts for Cascade
I have skirt that was made for a Cascade. I think it's XL tunnel. Cannot recall what manufacturer. I would consider selling it for $50 plus whatever postage to get it to the destination. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Re: curious about c1
C1 pros: --Can afford the used kayak to convert (deciding factor) C1 cons: --Have to wear a dress --Have to have the dress custom made --Grimacing in pain the entire time you're paddling --Good luck figuring out the outfitting --If you do manage to figure out outfitting that will hold you in, you ma...

Re: Solo Canoe Advice.
I have paddled a Viper 12 for a number of years. I would say that I enjoy the speed and snappy handling, decent surfing. The downside is that it is not very dry, at least for me, weighing in at 235-240 pounds. If I go through a large hole I get filled up. Big waves, too. On bigger runs like you migh...

Re: General Canoeing Technique Advice
There is a video called "Solo Playboating" by Kent Ford that is pretty good, and it has some advice on forward stroke technique and paddle length. I would just get that. Otherwise, you don't need to worry too much about canoe paddling technique in California, because there are so few canoeists that ...

Those air bags look pretty new. If you bought those, perhaps you wouldn't mind posting the size and what type of bags, where you got them. I have a CU-Fly with original air bags, I might have to buy new ones soon.

Re: Detonator in heavy water - what am I doing wrong?
I noticed that there is a Probe for sale on this Web site. If cost is no consideration you could buy the Probe, and problem solved! Seriously, I've never paddled a Detonator, but I have paddled a Viper 12 for many years, which is similar to the Probe, and I always felt comfortable in big water in th...

You don't mention anything about having or not having a roll. Being able to combat roll might solve some of the problems.

Re: Dagger Aftershock Re-Outfit
Nice job, thanks for the post. I am curious where you got ahold of the grab loops, or how you made them. I have a CU-Fly with no grab loops, need to make some new ones.

Re: Blackfly 91
Is the Octane 91 dry? How dry is it? Dryer than a Viper 12? Does it boof? I am thinking this might be the boat for me, as I am a rather large guy.

Re: Need advice C1 Jackson fun or 4 fun?
I'm not a C1-er, and I could be wrong but I would think about getting the Zen 75 rather than the Zen 65 because you are at the lower end of the Zen 75 weight range, and the 75 might be wider and more stable. The C1 tends to be really tippy because you are sitting up higher. FWIW I have seen posts ta...
