Yukon Cornelius... Poor doggies.
I guess the 24 hour darkness brings on enough cabin fever that the cold no longer matters.
Hey- can you paddle on liquid propane?- might be an 'Option' (get it) for you!

A picture says a thousand words... and this puts it into perspective for our Fahrenheit brethren in the South:

Giddyup!
It's -40 C with the windchill in Ottawa. The eddies are filled with slushy frazil ice and mist is wisked away from the waters surface by a stiff frigid breeze. The paradox of a cloudless sunny sky and the coldest day in 8 years makes the rapids next to me both appealing and repellant. Today there is...

How do I put a picture in the message body?
I couldn't find an answer to this in the FAQ. How do I put a picture directly into the message body? I have been trying the Img button, but it doesn't allow me to paste an image I copied from my hard drive. I posted the pictures to picasa and tried again but a message comes up saying that it can't d...

"Not to hijack the thread, but photo 1 in your Boating series indicates a need to zip up a boy's PFD and provide some role modeling on their wear" A valid point- I just deleted that picture. It's funny because that's my son Isaac who is usually the ultimate safety geek. He's always the one reminding...

I know that slap- same as crossing a windy wavy lake. It makes me think of Boundary Waters where I spent 3 weeks in that boat.

Why Grummans Rock... My story and Your thoughts please.
Further to the radical new boat material thread, I thought it'd be fun if anyone out there wanted to share their memories or tales of carnage from the Grumman days here. I for one still have my Dad's Grumman which he got new over 40 years ago. It has survived several of his northern canoe trips, 4 b...

Re: Radical new boat material (the Grumman thread)
Hey, I think you're on to something with the inverted Airstream trailer! If only we could find one small enough, we wouldn't have to come up with a new design. Wasn't Grumman's main gig manufacturing nuclear warheads? Maybe Airstream would be a better fit for canoeing after all!

Re: Merry Christmas
Ummm... I'm still here. Wasn't this supposed to be the end? If it is, and this is the sweet hereafter, then why do I still feel nausea?

An interesting thought, however, I can think of many arguments to the contrary such as: Dagger Blast Jim Snyders Rockhopper Jim Snyders Puddle Jumper Jackson Fun 1 Jackson Fun 1 1/2 Jackson Shooting Star Jackson Little Hero Jackson Sidekick Among others... Why not for the canoe too? By the time they...
