Re: Grab loop back up

Thought about that, too. I am concerned a bit about making the skirt easy/easier to get snagged on something in a swim (I remember reading of at least one incident). Thanks, I'll mull that over.

Grab loop back up

My little guy had a scare today (and me, too later when I found out) - he flipped, doesn't combat roll yet, and found his grab loop was in the boat... Fortunately his cousin was nearby and gave him an Eskimo rescue. The skirt is new and tight... So, what are your grab loop back up ideas that don't i...

Re: Shoulder injury question.

A friend of mine was a swimmer in college and had injured both shoulders, one more than the other, and deliberately picked one side over the other. I *think* he had done more to his left shoulder and elected to paddle on the left to protect it. I haven't heard from him in forever, though...

Re: zephyr shedding

Buffing - I folded up the shirt and just rubbed the boat hard like waxing a car (wax on, wax off)

Paint - sprayed it from the can

Still holding up, but light use and I anticipate touching it up as needed.

Re: Paddle Recommendation?

Thoughts re: the Millbrook Norse, without actually having one... 1. Norse paddles are bomber - i have a "Bob Foote Special" they made once with an oval shaft and slightly smaller blade - been using it for years - it's a paddle I don't worry about 2. after seeing Bob Britt cut his old standard Norse ...

Re: making a c1 pirouette?

Lots of pictures on this site of conversion set ups - some in the gallery in my signature below. As for getting the seat out, do it on a hot day when the plastic is warm and flexible, take out all the screws, and be prepared to wrestle with it. I usually end up with the boat standing on one end or t...

Re: Go to boat?

The days where I say "I wish I'd brought a more playful boat" are a little sad, but any day paddling is better than a day at work. The days where I say "I wish I'd brought more boat" are ones that can be stressful....

Re: What rack for a camper shell?

If I ever start from scratch again with a shell, I'm going with tracks so the bar spread is adjustable. Yakima has track + feet to go with it.

Re: Disposing of a trashed c-boat.

Cut them in half, stuff one end in the other.

Cut in half, stand pointy end up, paint green, drill holes, poke Christmas lights through the holes, sell them at a craft fair as seasonal decorations.

...

Re: Paddle Recommendation?

I've heard paddles compared to tires - Why buy a nice car and put cheap tires on it? But... This was about beginner sticks. You don't put Pirelli on you're first car.

I chopped and welded a Slasher - the shape was more conducive to the project (flatter j, similar generation of material, welded fine.

Re: Skid Plate Installation

Credit where it's due, it's Peter Blanc's idea! I had thrown a question out here about skid plates and he offered up detailed thoughts and instructions. I've adopted them very closely and have done about a dozen boats now and it's worked well.

Re: Skid Plate Installation

Don't flip the boat over - I have no idea why it says that. I've done more than a few skid plates and have never done anything but leave the boats upside down till cured. You can cut Kevlar felt with sharp scissors, though don't use any that are "special"... If you significantly trim them, you could...
