Re: Batmax upper weigth limit ?
I paddled a batmax at between 205 - 210 with no major issues. For comparison, my extrabat was seams in the water at 205.

Re: Paddle Tape ?
Plain old PVC electrical tape has worked well on all of my paddles - Doesn't add noticeable thickness, or weight, but provides enough texture for grip and does add a bit of protection for wear points on the shaft

Rick, Genesis for sale for $750 on MEC in Lethbridge, along with an interesting Kevlar Mad River Cyclone (never heard of it). Pat. If I recall, the Cyclone was Mad River's answer to some of Steve Scarborough's and Frankie Hubbard's designs in the Mid-80s. Back then Jim and Kay would always show up ...

Re: Gyromax seat questions.
It has been a long time, but if memory serves, the gyromax seat was a molded plastic pedestal with a layer of foam over it. I want to say that it was approximately 6" with the foam...

Re: Slalom C1 Comparison? Vajda MM Max, One, iScream
I got a Scream a few years ago - I had been off the water for many years - my previous slalom boat was a Zealot - I'm a bit bigger than you - 200 lbs, but a Scream xl is about perfect for me. There was a bit of transition to more of a "cab forward" paddling technique for the modern boat, but overall...

Re: Slalom C1 for heavy paddler & relative beginner (in slal
First pic looks like you might want to adjust your hip blocks - or install some if you don't have them. May just be the picture, but looks like you have the boat cocked to your offside.

Re: Slalom C1 for heavy paddler & relative beginner (in slal
I weigh in about 200 Lbs and I have a Scream (not iScream) XL - no issues with size for me. Took me a little bit to trim it out to keep the stern up and bow down, but you should be fine with an XL or XXL iScream

Krylon Fusion is also a good spray paint for plastics. I have sealed glass boats by spraying with Fusion Primer, followed by Fusion Paint, to get a thicker coat and further seal the fibers... Won't add much weight, saves your skin from itchies...sbroam wrote: Paint - sprayed it from the can

Re: I think it's a Batmax
That looks like an old Apple Line boat. Probably a Batmax as they went out of business before the Extra-Bat came outold and in the way wrote:For sale - think it might be a Batmax
There is probably a piece of paper laminated inside the cockpit with a model/serial/build date/possibly layup

Re: Paddle Recommendation?
Will the same paddle work for me in OC1 (Ocoee), C1 playboat (Session+, if I take to it) and Slalom C1 or should I be looking for 2 or 3 different paddles? (of course my questions are vastly different to the OPs question, for him I would say start with C100s with fibreglass shaft (cheap and service...

The Norse is an absolute bombproof tank of a paddle... and doubles as an axe - but great paddles.
The carlisle is a step up from the mohawk and is very tough and forgiving for beginners - The blade is more rigid
than the mohawk, even though it doesn't feather as well...

Re: Skid Plate Installation
Yes you can cut the kevlar to the size/shape you want. A BRAND NEW pair of Fiskars will do the job - clean, but slow. Once you cut the shape you want, put it on the boat dry - use a marker to outline where they will go on the boat - give yourself a bit of wiggle room (1/4 inch on each side is plenty...
