Re: Blackfly 91

... As confidence-boosting as the stablitiy would be, you loose a little something too. It's just not what I'm used to. I had the same reaction to a Quake. I was surprised how crazy-stable it was for a small boat, but stability isn't everything, it was just too heavy & slow for what I like. Pat.

Re: FS: Dagger Aftershock - great shape!

What Yukon said. Both are wet and slow, but the Aftershock is wetter and slower than the Quake by far. The Quake tracks amazingly well for a short boat and the Aftershock does not. The Quake is as good or better as a creeker as it is a play boat. The Aftershock is more ...

Re: FS: Dagger Aftershock - great shape!

... fun boat for what it was made for - playing in holes, sure its wet but so are all the boats made for hole play. Not a great river runner. Quake is much better all arounder. Rick I would be very interested in that Quake on the West Coast if it comes for sale and you are not going to take it.

Re: FS: Dagger Aftershock - great shape!

I've paddled both. . . The Quake is awesome and the Aftershock sucks. . . Sorry, Dr.n -- not to hijack a f/s thread, but. . . Cheajack -- would be grateful if you'd expand on your comments. I've paddled an Aftershock -- very wet, but intelligent ...

Re: FS: Dagger Aftershock - great shape!

I've paddled both and own a Quake and a Big Dog Force. The Quake is awesome and the Aftershock sucks. Just my opinion. And here is another one. If you like that style of boat get a Big Dog Force. Drier, faster and more nimble than the Quake and just as stable.

Re: Seat height and rolling --

Yeah, Bob.. that sounds like it really is good since rolling could be impossible.. unless your boat is a quake or C1 ;D If you picture the rolling motion of the upper body vs. the boat, the point where you "fold" over the gunwales indeed does make a difference.. physical, for ...

... south sometimes hanging onto a branch with one hand and hitting the switch with the other. I always try for the driest lines, but in a Skeeter or Quake often the chosen line is just less wet. I'm glad I have a pump.

Re: Help Choosing my First WW Solo Canoe

... the drawback of the weight increase. So, having said that, I would look for something short, plastic, and has a low freeboard. Something like a Quake, Spanish Fly, or Super Fly. These are wet boats, and only the Spanish Fly is still in production, but they are all fun to paddle, and all 3 can ...
