Re: SUP! (Stand Up Paddleboarding)
I've got several beautiful lakes within minutes of the house. The idea of SUP on whitewater doesn't work for me (too afraid of the run off the nose into bony river) but I kind of like it on the lake. For me: Cons- It's the roller blade-ing of the ocean Pros- I like doing distance work outs on it. Mu...

Re: It's a sickness...
It looks awesome and should be a rocket. I cut my 90's Estanguet down to 370 or so (20 off the tail, 10 off the nose) , but didn't have the skill to narrow the stern and take volume out of it, which I felt it really needed. Your's should be a blast. Can't wait to see photos of the finished design......

Re: WTB your spare pogie!
Lefty or righty? I've got a set I don't use much, and I'm even in Glenshire. Left has a hole cut out for T-grip. right is intact. e_d_g_1 [at] sbcglobal.net....edg

Re: straps vs bulkhead
FWIW, I suck (relatively speaking), but I set up my slalom c-1's without straps, using only bulkheads. I was strongly influenced by a number of National team level paddlers who used bulkheads or knee cups without straps. These guys were so good that they used the lack of total connection as an advan...

wildwater c-1
Awesome choice! I'd love to be joining (and trailing) JFD for the US trials, but I'm paddling a desk instead. There is very little on wildwater c-1 technique that I know of. Your best sources are visual. Here are 2 links from the Wildwater Italia site. The second link is really good- the first is on...

I don't know if this link will go through, but its a shot of the outfitting in Martikan's c-1, which is really a k-1, from what I understand. It may give you some ideas. After reading JFD's post, I'm tempted to convert the old Seda Climax slalom k-1 I use for attaining...edg http://www.facebook.com/...

Core Paddle
It's not entirely on point, but I've used a titanium shafted paddle for a few years, which likely has some of the same pros and cons of the aluminum shaft. Pro: More flexible than you would think. Very easy on the shoulders, in terms of paddle stroke. Easy to change out blades and T-grips by heating...

Shipping Boats
Old Dominion Freight Lines has been very good to me. However, this has been through a special deal for "personal race boats" with USACK/ USA Wildwater. http://www.usawildwater.com/news/2008/081006_ODFL_and_USACK.pdf But it does suggest they are boater friendly, and maybe able to work deals, especial...

Payette Thread Drift
Richard - Was that Payette run with a k-1 playboater (Brett Valle)? In my k-1 days I was up there when Brett hooked up with an OC-1 from the SE and ran the NF. Brett said thew guy said it was the 2d OC descent, and that the guy styled it, but was thrashed from bailing. I recall seeing the red Dagger...

You might try usawildwater's director of western junior development, Denny Adams. His daughter Lisa was the #2 slalom C-1W at trials, and he may have some leads. He's in Grand Junction, and should be bringing juniors to Fibark, etc..edg
