Re: C1 Outfitting
Looks awesome and solid. The back rest metal bar is a bit scary, but that is prob. just me. How are the strapping, is it lose. Good work on installing the airplane buckles. Straps are snowboard bindings. Being loose isn't an issue. You could probably get them tight enough to do nerve damage lol. Wh...

C1 Outfitting
Spent a long time machining parts and testing this... Weights around 10lbs. Thoughts? I have manufacturing drawings ready to go, if I were to ask a shop to make a run of these would anyone be interested? Not sure cost at this point. Tested on the stomper so far. If there is interest I will test it o...

Re: A bad break
How are other people feeling about PE these days? Have you had long lasting (5 years or more) PE canoes, c1s or kayaks? Or are cracks part of the PE game? I'm tempted to try a different hull to see if that makes a difference. Maybe it's time to finally get an Option out to Oregon. I really like PE ...

My back is about 8 inches forward from my cockpit rim if that helps.

^thisthe great gonzo wrote: PS: some folks use stainless steel or aluminum reinforcement mesh in their welds. I am very weary of this, as he steel and aluminum have mechanical properties that are much different from HDPE and cn thus create a stress raiser. If proper welding technique is used, they are not needed.

Re: Thinking outside the weld
I'm not quite sure what you mean. I'm imagining that I've scraped away a groove on both sides and that there may be the small gap by then that you could slip a sheet of paper or thin knife blade through. What exactly should be touching? Basically just make sure that the external and internal weld t...

Re: Thinking outside the weld
Also, if you have time to wait, shipping one of these from china is a good investment. It's way cheaper than any you will find here. It will pay for itself in free beer for welding friends boats. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1000W-Plastic-Welder-Gun-Hot-Air-Welding-rod-Gas-Vinyl-8m-h-2800Pa-/370749900648...

Re: Thinking outside the weld
The video above is really good. I've done a lot of welding using that method and never had one fail. Some comments: - Use a scrape not a box cutter like he mentions. The scrape is just so much easier and in my opinion safer. - Make sure you weld from the inside as well. The video only shows an exter...

Re: Fence rail convert
Right on. So its bolted right to the seat bolts? Does it give you any issues not being flush with the hull the whole way?
If could take a picture of how you have it attached I would appreciate it.

Re: C1 Insert Input
You'll probably get some interest if you build it, test it, tweak it, test it again...etc. Then post some pics. I would love to see what you come up with. I've got one design that I sold through here. I offered to build one batch and sold 11. They were beautiful, functional, and expensive and it ba...

Re: Fence rail convert
Yea you want foam under the rail. Gives it more hull contact and prevents hardware from wearing.

Re: Air bag repair
This is what I do: - Inflate bag - Visually inspect bag for any obvious tears and holes - Fill a spray bottle with a little bit of dish soap and water. Spray the whole bag. Bubbles will form where there are leaks. Don't worry it is obvious where a leak is. - Mark the leaks with a sharpie - Dry area ...

C1 Insert Input
I have been working on designing a C1 insert. If this was available, would you be interested in purchasing one? And what price point would you be looking at? I am ordering parts to machine a prototype next week. Here are some specs: - Breaks down into sections no longer than 12 inches (yea that's ri...
