Another thing you can try is soaking the skirt thoroughly first before you put it on. That does make it easier for me to put on the slalom skirt for the other glass boats I have.

I would suggest getting a new skirt from Snap Dragon. Davey Hearn has them in stock for ~ $100.00. Just tell him it's for an Atom. Mine fits perfectly. Skirts do not stretch over time as far as I know, and if they do it is because they are worn out. Mine fits over the hip grabbers with ease. I don't...

I would like to think that April 19 - 20 would be a good date. Maybe May 3-4 also.

I've been reading the posts and see a lot of good advice. I was with Tom when he had these unfortunate swims and I think the environment was more of a factor than any lack of skill. It was a sunny but cool 40 Deg day on a snow melt fed run on a shallow river. His first flip and roll attempt was stym...

Dagger Atom Frachella Viper The Atom was the first nimble C-1 in plastic. It offered the opportunity to make stupid moves and know the boat would survive if not the paddler. It is one of the most comfortable boats I've paddled. The Viper is the next most comfortable C-1 I've been able to fit in. It ...

Got to fix the crack in my Berry C-2. It's been a while since I took it down some WW. That shot of one was inspiring.

So when do you begin production? Pulling a mold. That looks like a $20,000 prototype. I would love to try it out just to get my picture taken in it.

Boater ID

I was watching Fox News coverage of the drought in Atlanta and they showed some footage of a nearby reservoir. As I was watching a C boater arrived with a blue cascade and put on. He was a right handed paddler (shaft hand). Who was that?
No skirt, so I guess no roll practise.

I'm 54. I and my wife bought a used aluminum canoe the year we married and started paddling WW then. that was in 75. We did relatively easy class I and II, the Cacapon and North Rivers in Virginia. We then moved to Boston and I spent 15 years away from paddling. I started paddling again in 94 in bor...

6'4" 170 lbs I paddle a full cut Frachella Viper for most of the summer as long as there is enough flow to cover the rocks and the trip is no more than 4 hours. Class II/IV. It is fast and surfs and attains well. It is unforgiving if you are not on your game, as its sharp edges will be grabbed and s...

In water recoveries are part of the offside stroke. It is un-natural not to do so. The underwater recovery on your offside serves as the inverse of the J stroke on your on side. The stroke should be short and forward of your knees, though I don't practice as well as I preach.

oops, I just reread the post, I had the flutter on the underwater recovery, not the power stroke.

I had that problem with my Mitchell spoon blade when I first got it. I found with practice and slight angle change on the offside stroke this went away.
