Tommy/Ian,

I am hoping to get some footage up for this weekend, this will be followed by a series of free coaching articles. A pay to download coaching video, Sweet Skills, will be available before Christmas.

Kelvin.

Ian, I take it you met Claire.. She's also pretty handy with a single blade!

Hey Tommy, It's great to see you guys having fun on grade 2, I hope this inspires people to paddle OC1s. I hope this doesn't sound too harsh but I am curious about something. I see two young paddlers, paddling modern boats using techniques that don't get the most out of the hulls. I realise that the...

Josh, I take it the girl in question is the C1 paddler? Otherwise my advice may be different. Once a student is reasonably proficient it is wise to let them lead the coaching process to a degree. So... She says that she knows when her roll will fail due to timing Ok Josh, so at what stage of the rol...

Grade the big 3 on the Green..

Hi Folks, With a few 'class 5' discussions going on at the moment I was just thinking what grade you folks would give to the three main rapids on the Green River Narrows? Please state whether you have run them, walked them or only watched footage of them. I guess it is that well paddled the grades w...

Hi Kyle,

Perfect, it also gives you the opportunity to sand them to a good finish before oiling. Most boat that come with wood trim are fairly roughly done.

So Kelvin and I are goin' head to head in taureaus at the tellico race... sweet. Hey Paul, I wish I could be there! I know what you are saying about slower boats, and the Taureau is the slowest of them all. (With the exception of OC1 playboats.) Zooms/Preludes etc can be paddled more like canoes an...

"a correction stroke is just fixing a mistake" now we're referring to any correction stroke that creates drag.
I would challenge anyone to a race, they can use forward/cross forward combinations. I'll power/pry and we'll see who's momentum gets robbed!
Fancy a race Paul?

A couple of bits to consider... The 2x4 concept of paddling has it's uses as a drill to deepen the paddlers understanding of how the 4 elements of power, shaft angle, stroke position and edge can be used to control the direction on the boat. It needs to be combined with an understanding of a lot of ...
