Compared to the Scamp any of the mentioned boats will be lighter. The Outrage will feel a little squirrelly at first but will be faster, dryer once you get used to it and much lighter.
Demo before buying if you can.

Re: What is a broken boat worth?
A well repaired rx boat is worth $300+ iho. An easily repairable one probably in the 200 range. Plastic is still a mystery to me.

Confidence!
Having the skill in say class 2 but not the confidence to use it as the moves get harder. A lot of this is simple experience but the confidence has to be there.

drrpm, The outrage would be a painless entry to shorter boats. It's still fast, has increased rocker than your current boats, has gentle chines. I moved to one from an Encore, a long time ago, and felt it a great fit. It's also extremely capable. You can go a lot shorter, and plastic but I think the...

I've bought around 10 without paddling first. 2 I didn't like: an HD1 years ago that for me was a swim inducing machine, sold it for what I bought it for; a Daggar Phantom, Louie told me I wouldn't like it and was right. Sold it at a loss to a lady who still paddles it. Of the rest the ones that rea...

Milkman, I strongly agree. Take time to smell the roses as it were. I try not to schedule river days as anything but river days. Whats the hurry.

Agree w/ Kricket. Applying tape correctly takes skill. Need the right amount of heat to be concentrated on the tape only and the tapeto be near perfect on the seam for it to work.

Unless we get rain Clear creek will hold till Monday. The Tellico could be iffy even for Sunday. CC will run till 1000 cfs on Emory Oakdale gauge. It should be there. Middle Tellico on Saturday looks like a good bet, tho rather low. Alabama is saying rain on Friday. Hope its true and it goes north e...
