Re: Icon, Idol, or Meridian dry suit?
Though not on your list, I just got the Kokatat Hydrus. If I have to urinate, I prefer to have one front zipper than two, fewer moving parts and holes. It does not have a tunnel, so that's an issue I'll have to live with when I am in a c-1. Some prefer a plastic over metal zipper.

Re: Interesting Question from a Long Time Paddling Friend
I've gone from 40 to 50 days a year on the water to 12 or 15 days a year on easy stuff up to class II This may be natural. I was going at least 30 days a year, most with the same buddy. When he contacted cancer and passed away I found myself out of the loop. The last couple of years I've only paddl...

Interesting Question from a Long Time Paddling Friend
Sunday after our run on Clear Creek, we were enjoying some conversation and a beer. I good buddy asked me why I had not paddled for several years which caused me to take inventory of the past 10 years where, maybe, I paddled twice a year or so. I started paddling in the mid '80's. By the '90's I was...

Re: Curved versus Flat Blade
I have a Clinch River paddle whose profile is more triangular than a rectangle. I notice Norse makes a similar design called a SW Wildwater, http://norsepaddles.com/product.php?id=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's been 11-12 years since I had Bailey Johnson make the paddle and I ...

Re: Blackfly option for sale
I got caught up in a deal last year when the seller and I agreed then he backed out after he got a better offer. That caused me to just order one from Jeremy out of the new mold and enhancements.

That's cool. I am keeping my old slalom boats for the grand children to try if they are interested.old and in the way wrote:Taking this one off the market. After our last race in C-2, my daughter said "I'd like to learn C-1 now"
Can't argue with that!

Re: At least this was just a Coleman canoe
Our self obsession will be the end of civilization- can't we just do stuff without always having to document? Glad to hear someone else is taking note of this mentality. This self obsession also breeds some pretty vocal and ugly egos to go along with their exploits. While I think its great if you w...

Re: Considering another Black Fly
I had not heard the Option had thicker hulls. Seems just the opposite given the weight of the "big octane".

Considering another Black Fly
The new tandem Octane could not have been a better performer for us this past weekend. The boat is heavy outside the water, but nimble and quick in the current. I also feel the boat is made to be used and thick. I am impressed. We are considering the Option (I've just sent Jeremy an email), but am c...

Flotilla Update
Our Winter project has been a success. We have acquired several boats including a tandem Black Fly which will launch, Lord willing , this weekend. We have used the Aire Puma for the 4 year olds and only had one fall out. The Dagger Torrents have been a huge success swapping out as we went down strea...

Re: Skid Plate Installation
I've used plain old fiberglass cloth and resin that works as good as those commercial kits and for lots less money. I need to repair some sections on a Kevlar grunch that's on the '85 Sunbright Sunburst and I plan to use fiberglass cloth.

Most of my skill is on the left side. I can just get by on the right side in whitewater. But I switch sides when paddling tandem to make it easier for the bow paddler.
