Changing Sides

In our family I need to change sides when I paddle with my daughter and grand daughters. My wife and son paddle opposite. While I am not as confident, it is a good thing to be able to do.

Re: Five Black Flys Coming to Tennessee

The new BF is here. I took delivery Sunday afternoon from a fellow BF owner who met Jeremy in PA. What's crazy is that I am using a pair of 30 year old yellow, nylon, Voyageur end bags. These have been stored well and work great. I even have the repair kits that came with the set. The boat is lime g...

Re: Performance Comparison: Vertige v. Rival v. Impulse

Hi all- I'm looking for a performance comparison for these three boats: Esquif Vertige v. Dagger Rival v. Dagger Impulse. The boat would be for a 5'8"/150 lb person. Any experience and opinions appreciated. We picked up a used Vertige this Spring. My experience so far is that it is a stable platfor...

Wow, those were too cool. The latest NRS catalogue is a must have and features and Seda helmet on the front page.

Thanks again. The boat was a MR Explorer. I am not familiar with that brand's construction. :D

Re: Thigh Strap Ideas for Sunburst

I too have a sunburst, old Blue Hole, with the kneeling thwart. If I was to put in thigh straps I'd use North Water thigh straps, http://northwater.com/collections/thigh-straps/products/velcro-overlay-thigh-straps" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Interesting and good safety concern ab...

Re: Thigh Strap Ideas for Sunburst

You could make your own straps from 2" webbing (seat belt, flat, or tubular) and associated 2" triglides and buckles. Also, I'm not a big fan of kneeling thwarts in whitewater boats, at least not unsupported ones, especially when coupled with thigh straps (which would slow exit). I have a friend wh...

Thigh Strap Ideas for Sunburst

I'm throwing around ideas for putting thigh straps into the '85 Sunburst I recently found. Harmony makes a couple options used for sit on top kayaks with brass snaps. I could get a couple anchor points and attack them to the underside of the aluminum gunnels. Harmony also makes the type with buckles...

Five Black Flys Coming to Tennessee

I got an email from Jeremy today saying our tandem Octane will be ready to ship June 15. He said he has 5 coming to Tennessee. If anyone wants to go get them, I am willing to do my share for gas as long as its cheaper than regular shipping. Thanks. :D

Re: Astral Footwear?

I have a pair of porters. I don't wear them for boating, but think i probably could. I personally like shoes without a substantial sole for canoeing. The porters are the lightest, most comfortable summer shoes I've owned. I wear them all the time, and am going on my second summer. Holding up great....
