New Haven (Vermont) creeking race?

I was wondering if any C-1 or OC-1 brethren are planning to attend the New Haven races on April 2nd up here in Vermont?

Can't wait!

Speaking of Otter Creek, my sources tell me that the first complete, successful descent of Moore Run was made today by Geoff Calhoun, Steve Graybill, Bobby Miller (who ran all drops), and our own friend of the single blade, Seth Chapelle.

Word!

I don't care who you are . . . those high mountain runs in the Dolly Sods and the Cheat headwaters are committing! A lot of good boaters have had to drag their arses out of there in the dark or wait it out until morning.

Tommy, nice to see you back here posting.

I should note that I've never paddled a L'edge . . .

And I prefer short walks across the beach, actually. :D

Blackfly Option and Ion review

Hi everyone, Last weekend I had the opportunity to take both the Blackfly Option and the Blackfly Ion prototype open canoes for a test paddle in New Hampshire. As many board posters know, both canoes are going into production for the first time this winter. The Option The first thing that was eviden...

Thanks for the review, Larry. I paddle a Large Burn myself, and was considering this boat because of the Prijon durability.

So it sounds like it's pretty much just as stable as the Burn?

A lot of North Americans mentioned, but canoeing greats from other areas come to mind . . . Martin Lang (back-to-back World Champ) . . . Lukas Pollert (pawned two Olympic medals) . . . Pavol and Peter Hochshorner (in the top five cboaters ever). . . Gareth Marriott . . . Jiroslav Simek . . . Jiri Ro...

I can't believe someone swam that drop and lived. I also know a guy who swam Big Splat. He got his helmet ripped off, but was okay.

There is some luck out there . . .

Adam,

Once again, a big thanks for all the hard work you and the other moderators do.

I know that it can't always be the easiest job. I appreciate it.

Class V dreams for me until all this snow melts . . .

:D

Jeremy, had guys run that second drop right below the big one previously? It looked pretty fun in the video.

Craig, I totally agree. One particularly influential "class II-III-IV" paddling movie does comes to mind . . . A little thing called "Deliverance." :D So . . . I think we need another Hollywood blockbuster featuring canoeing! Can any of you guys get on it? I know we've got plenty of stuntmen and stu...

The only problem with the Upper Yough is that of any town I've frequented as a boater, I believe Friendsville has the *lowest* "repeat value." Hades, I think even Aintree had less strained town-paddler relations. :D
