Re: Do we need to be recognised?

I agree with Ian, it's a shame that more new models of open boats or C-1 play or creekboats aren't popping out like they are in the kayak market. Companies like esquif and blackfly are keeping c-boating relevant and not just recycling the same models that have been in production since the 90's. I un...

Re: Is "oil canning" really that important?

Oil canning and other hull mutations other than being unsightly also change the performance of the hull. A minor one is they change the volume of the boat, probably not in a significant way, but in some for the new spud playboats who knows. What is changes the most has to be how they affect hull spe...

wash it, there is a reason bleach and chlorine are commonly used together.

I get the joke, I just can't call myself a paddler if I didn't have some snark back-talk. In regards to loss of feeling in a sea kayak, that's likely because you don't do it as much as you C-boat. I canoe, but I mostly kayak, so I can sit in my "butt boat" (to use the preferred nomenclature) for far...

Of all the other forums I use I think this is the only one I'd see a "XYZ activity sucks because it is inherently inferior". What's with the complex folks? You'd never see a thread with a title like "I don't like canoeing" on the other forums, yet I repeatedly see a similar topic pop up here. I know...

The 2008 Burn is still a quality boat, the new model has some tweaks and updates, but the 2008 is still a world class boat. I've never C-1'd one before, but as my creek kayak, it's a great boat. I think that you'd fit well in a Medium.

I'd just like to remind us all that WHITEWATER DOESN'T MATTER. In the grand scheme of things this selfish activity that we enjoy so much, doesn't matter to anyone other than this very small clique of people. Whether you paddle a C-1, k-1, OC-1, OC-2 etc., means very little compared to the violence (...

I would recommend against a latex ankle gasket, similarly to what Jim says, the pants dry top combo has lead to multiple examples of the pants filling with water and acting as a sea anchor. I had several close friends have close calls with dry pants, one friend even having to remove his pants while ...

Boat color hasn't regularly been a consideration, but if I had the financial backing to buy a boat of my choosing I would always try to buy a boat that was brightly colored. For me boat choice has always been about hull design, outfitting and color are lower in the hierarchy of needs, but could infl...

Jackson is releasing a new Hero for 2011, perhaps it will be a more suitable design. It's not supposed to be much longer, so I Imagine that it won't be any faster. Perhaps it will make a good colorado low volume creeker if your the type that wants a boat for every condition.
