Re: oc1 for female
The Prelude takes the same kind of balance and quick reactions that a Phantom and Zoom require. If she didn't like the L'edge for its lack of glide, the Option might not be much better. Interesting -- I find the Prelude and Zoom 'edgier' than the Phantom, and I'm sitting around 170lbs. At 150lbs, a...

Re: Buying a used Spark--issues?
Does Esquif make a bulkhead that is sold separately to their boats? Yea I've seen them for sale. I'm sure Esquif will be willing to sell you the boat bulkhead outfitted. A friend of mine bought a new Spark hull and added the bulkhead himself. He chose a Beluga saddle, primarily because he could get...

Re: Esprit Costa Rica/Mexico...Have you been?
Non-paddling spouse. ('nuff said?) We went to Costa Rica with Esprit this year and loved it. I'd say you'd be able to work something out with your non-paddling partner and Esprit. There's so much to do in Costa Rica and you'd be able to paddle some days while your partner does other things, t...

Re: Warm Feet
Try using the disposable boot heaters that a lot of skiers use. They help. Cost about $2 for a pair. Apparently Cosco sells them by the box at a good price.

Re: tandem oc2 tips anyone
With a good tandem team, the bow paddler keeps the boat on line and the stern paddler provides the power. I don't really know any tandem crews either and I'm a lot closer to whitewater. My tandem experience comes from the couple of trips I make each year with one of my daughters. That's not always ...

Re: Possible First Descent
Actually it is just north of St. Catharines, in Jordan Station (used to live near there). I haven't heard if any OC's have run it. Pretty stout drop, hopefully the landing is well aerated.Dave.E wrote:Around Niagara. Upper Balls Falls

Re: Option as CC Bulldog alternative
I'm currently paddling a Composite Creations Bulldog, my first open boat. Anyhow, I was kind of thinking of an Option as a skinny water alternative to the Bulldog. Thanks I've paddled a Bulldog (I've never owned one, just borrowed one for a day), and I wouldn't say the Option is a creek alternative...

Re: Trip Report on my week in Costa Rica with Esprit
.....We ran everything to steep creeks high in the mountains to big water down in a valley. THe boating was great, but the general attitudes of the staff and everyone we came into contact with where really the high lite of the trip. Every meal and place we stayed was top notch. My only complaint wa...

Re: Break down canoe paddle
Three piece or bust! With the three-piece, the paddle blade and shaft pieces are almost exactly the same length, and fit under the rear airbag of a Taureau quite nicely. Perfect, I'll take your advice, thanks! Another question for you Shep, since you're a Taureau man, just out of curiosity, what is...

Re: Break down canoe paddle
I too have a 3 piece AB edge that I really like. It is solid and not terribly expensive. I got mine last summer from http://waldensridgewhitewater.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43&products_id=601 . I agree that if it needed to be my primary paddle I would be fine with that, it wo...

Re: ALF/Pre-ALF Workshops
Cheeks (or anyone else for that matter), I wouldn't worry too much about people getting the wrong idea. For what it's worth, I'm one thousand miles from all of this, and I can see through it. Hey, the group is called GDI, not the Nobel Laureates of Eastern Tennessee. People aren't all the same, and...

Re: ALF/Pre-ALF Workshops
Go to ALF, come to the CBoat Armada, and check out as many other paddling trips as you can - you'll make new friends, learn a lot, and have a great time. Folks internet persona doesn't always match their in-person one, and be careful in that regard too and don't go in with too many perceived notion...

Re: Ledge well modification
couple things about the Ocoee bag. make sure you burp as much air out of it such that if you get a direct impact it wont blast burp the air out and possibly blow open the seal. Also put the bag up to the light and look for nicks from the inside from hard corners of contents striking the bag materia...
