I think that's an optimistically early time. I recall many people pulling up at 9 with an expectation of still grabbing breakfast before any trips were leaving. Maybe the weekend crowd was earlier??

that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
What's the idea behind the Octane 9 compared to the Option?

Re: Madawaska River Trip Question

I was thinking of doing a 4 day trip on the Madawaska in early June. 3 guys, 1 OC1 and a whitewater tripping boat. Never done this river before. I was thinking of maybe doing the Lower from Palmer Rapids to Griffith. I was told that this section can done in 3 days but we like to take our time to pl...

Re: FREE ALF t-shirt contest

Ok, so I've been receiving some really creative suggestions of excuses that could have been included on the back of the ALF shirt. I think creativity should be rewarded, so post your best excuses in this thread and the best one will win a free ALF shirt. If I was the only one in the race. If runnin...

Re: How does the l'Edge handle big water?

Thanks Craig. I'm hoping I can try one eventually and see for myself. :D Last year Paddle Shack rented L'edges, and possibly Camp de Base in Hull. There are lots of them on the Ottawa, and at least one raft guide paddles one. We saw him run down the meat of Phil's, then take on Dragon's Tongue. I h...

Re: Lipo bilge pump batteries

I'm really just trying to get a general idea of what everyone is using and a ball park on how long a charge last. My experience with lipo batteries comes from playing with RC cars. Here's the battery I was looking at, but it looks like it may be over kill based on what you guys are using. http://ww...

Re: pump batteries

a question regarding battery power. i can get my hands on some 10.8 v lithium batteries from a drill. Does anyone know if that will run the pump in a l'edge? I imagine lower power won't actually wreck the pump, just might not pump much water? Paul There are other issues that may arise with using Li...

Re: Possible interest building for canoeing?

Also don't knock paddling w/decked boaters, for if that's where the best paddlers are in your area.... then perhaps you might want to boat with these guys more often. Personally I wouldn't get to do half the quality, if only boating with my openboat brethren. We are lucky to have access to a lot of...

I just confirmed with Aquabound -- they still make 3 piece paddles as a special order. Maybe not as strong, but sure convenient if you paddle a C-1 or short boat like a Spanish Fly, Taureau, BlackFly, etc.

I have had good luck using G-Flex epoxy on polyethylene after prepping the surface as per the instructions from WEST Systems (alcohol cleansing and flaming with propane torch). Have you tried it on poly and had it fail? No I haven't tried it, and now looking at the West system's website, they claim...

Bonding to PE - poly-bonder?

I've followed some of the old threads about putting in thigh-straps into a converted kayak or boats like the Prelude, SF, L'edge, Options. Most of the advice is that PE can be welded, but glues do not stick. Has anyone tried Poly-bonder from Mr Sticky's? According to their tests, it achieves a sheer...

ALF dates, a history lesson

Who sets the alf dates? Does Louie just pass it down the grapevine until someone else PMs Cboats? By tradition, the dates are set by the Ottawa, Ontario Public School board. Seriously. This whole thing started many years ago before it was called ALF by a small group of paddlers from Ottawa travelin...
