East Coast Armada

Just curious to see if there is any interest in resurrecting the Spring C-Boats Armada (North Branch, etc..) I need to track down release dates. Past gatherings have at times had large numbers but I don't think this event has happened for some time. Should we try?

Re: At least this was just a Coleman canoe

Our self obsession will be the end of civilization- can't we just do stuff without always having to document?

Not my boat- Old Town H2pro

Old town H2pro for sale at James River Runners in Hattons Ferry VA- I was up on the James for an overnight camper and saw this boat there- saddle and tie downs- no bags. Looked to be in great condition for an older boat. Thought I'd pass on the sighting in the event there is any interest in this boa...

Re: PFD

Thanks for the responses and input on PFD's- I ordered the Rocker yesterday so will see how it fits in a week or so. Vests sure have come a long way from when the primo vest was the Extrasport Hi-Float (with crotch starps)!

PFD

I need to replace my old PFD- I have been using a stohlquist pull over- I'd like something that zips on the side or front. I don't keep up much with the products and local stores are somewhat limited in selection. I paddle C-1 and OC-1. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Re: should i wax or polish?

Is that a titanium plate in the patch?! That takes this sport to a whole new level. I read a great article about the debate to wax racing shells (rowing)- there is a lot of science related to water movement and adhesion to consider and the evidence suggests that waxing a racing shell actually slows ...

Re: Drysuit Sale!

Thanks for pointing this out- I am now $638 poorer!- I was actually looking to get a drysuit this year and the one I researched and decided on was included in this sale- you gave me the incentive to take the plunge ( no pun intended).

Re: Boat of the Week - Perception Gyra Max

Gyramax was my first c-1. I bought it from Bob Gunst and it had some creases from when he had taken the saddle out and folded it to get it into a small plane! I almost got killed in that boat trying to surf it in the ocean. :o

Re: Canoe instruction... why do so few of us pay for it?

This post makes me reflect on the many lessons I have had from fellow boaters. I started WW paddling (OC 1 - 16 foot) in 1981 and over the years I have had many mentors on the River- none of whom no longer paddle due to age, lifestyle changes, etc.. The lessons took the form of countless runs down m...

hamstring

So I tied to waterski last week- first time in 15 years- the result was a moderate hamstring injury. I have iced and heated and started to do stretching exercises. I can now sort of walk without too much discomfort. There is still some pain but much improved over the last week since the injury on 8/...

Mike- I HOPE THIS I JUST TO HAVE SECOND VIPER AND NOT DUE TO BREAKING THE ONE YOU HAVE- YOU DIDN'T TRASH IT AT THE BEACH AT SANDBRIDGE? I paddled the James today in my Viper- ran several different routes- Cemetery, triple drop back to Pipeline. Beautiful morning on the River. Come on up with your Vi...

Re: adhesive for nylon

Thanks for all of the responses- I knew I could count on the wealth of experience here. It's great to be have a range of options. I think I will first check with my local alterations shop to see what she would charge to sew the bungee tunnel- I don't have a machine and my wife told me when we got ma...
